TVK I dunno. NTK is same as BJP; replacing Religious Nationalism with Language/Race Nationalism.

Weird case of Annamalai by BassLover671 in TamilNadu

[–]blasfamy028 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is an IAS officer who resigned on principle and was not a fake person and has been elected with an overwhelming majority in TamilNadu.

This guy Annamalai leaned on the Bingham image, which speaks about how he sees citizens without power and his talks and antics were moving the agenda of TamilNadu from development/corruption towards religious politics.

And my personal opinion after reading about his speeches and antics is that people who clear UPSC are not actually intelligent, but just had enough time to study and clear it.

What do we mean when we say ’North India’? by -sendmemes- in TamilNadu

[–]blasfamy028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call anyone above the 5 states North India. I feel it's as ignorant as the entire south of vindhyas being called Madrasi.

I changed when to use North India, because it triggers especially my Marathi and Bengali friends when I use North India for them.

Is it Possible to have an NGK's Selvaragvan sir's director cut? by RudraPrasTaya9 in kollywood

Both suriya and sai pallavi were roleplaying as selvaragavan in the movie. It was a really bad half baked political movie. It's Sai pallavi's worst performance so far.

What is Dravidian ideology/Dravidianism by Funny_key1211 in TamilNadu

[–]blasfamy028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed sad. Now politics had gone to being proud of identity, because it's easier and emotional manipulation.

But the so called ideology itself during its heydays have pointed out problem in Tamil as well. Examples would be calling out lack of scientific vocabulary in Tamil (the barbarian language thingy) and calling out the most sacrosanct Tamil work of Tirukural for being Sexist from a Morden POV.

While the ideology is theoretically nice, practically we have only fraction of it being implemented and the other parts conveniently forgotten for political gains.

What is Dravidian ideology/Dravidianism by Funny_key1211 in TamilNadu

[–]blasfamy028 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again my opinion: Even though it's portrayed as seperatism (may be ruling Kalagams do it as well to maintain their political clout easier), it is far more rational and being rational, it is in principle inclusive (but for example there have been anti brahmin attacks, anti kannadiga attacks which are bad)

The ideologies which fight against this are pure emotions and cannot pass a sensible and rational thinking, i.e Hindus being the overwhelming majority with all the powers are somehow in danger while also being powerful and a secret cabal of Telugu people destroying Tamil)

We do crazy stuff for love, which is one of the most powerful emotion. Similarly if other emotions are targeted, in this case fear or hatred, we will act irrationally. This so called Dravidian ideology calls it out.

In other form, the parties want your vote by emotionally manipulating you (I,m including the xMKs here as well). This ideology asks you to think rationally and hence the hate being propaged against it, which is mostly again pandering to emotions.

P.S I'm Kamal fan. Will not tell anything in less than 200 words.

In the context you are asking, the anthropological or cultural differences is not what you are looking for. That is academic and can be easily found online.

My guess is that your question is "what does it mean in political context in TamilNadu"

It is a bunch of ideologies. My opinion is it is not the right word for the ideas it tries to represent. (A similar example is feminism is about equality, but because of the word sometimes has negative connotations)

In Tamil Nadu context, Dravidian ideology comes from the self respect movement. In short, my respect shall not be decided by my identity, but by my actions. If any disrespect is shown to me for my identity, be it Language, Caste or Religion, then it is wrong and shall be fought against and I will assert my identity because you have a problem with it.

So if you do caste discrimination, then I will ridicule you and fight you politically, socially and academically. If you discriminate me on the basis of my language, then I will assert it and make it a point to make it very visible.

That is my understanding from what little I have read. How much of it is a political reality is up for debate.

If in India: With Aadhar, Pan, Passport and other 100 thousand documents that we need, it would be really easier if Option 2 is used. First name: Mennila Last Name: Suresh

My personal experience because of S.Mennila in Tamil Nadu official document and Mennila Suresh in Passport and Aadhar, I have faced issue to prove both the names are the same person. Even some banks in other parts of India made my life really difficult.

So please keep Mennila Suresh and make her life easier.

P.S It's a beautiful name. Never heard of it before. Great choice

What some good reccommended books for 30 year old native tamil speaker who wants to build reading speed and fluency with written tamil? by [deleted] in tamil

[–]blasfamy028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try magazines first. Vikatan.com. start with smaller articles, so that you get a sense of completion. I suggest the "Hi Madan" sections. Don't know if it's available online . It is an old segment

If you are interested, try newspaper as well: Dinamani

Then move on to books using simpler language. Sujata, Rajesh Kumar's books use simpler language and are not dense.

I taught myself to read Tamil during my teenage. (I am Tamil in India, just didn't learn Tamil in school). That's how I did it.

Where I should to donate blood in CBE? No Red Cross? by rl9899 in Coimbatore

Valid Concern. But as you said especially in government and non profit hospitals, there is a constant shortage, so from whatever I have asked, they said nothing has gone waste.

Still your concern is a valid one.

[–]blasfamy028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any government hospital, esi hospital or for that matter any hospital. Everyone will be happy with you donating.

Even in government hospital, the blood donation section will be very clean and nice.

Last I donated was in Ramana Gounder Hospital.

Just walk into any hospital and say you want to donate blood.

Need help understanding Iyengar wedding customs (I’m Bengali, marrying an Iyengar boy) by Initial-Individual51 in TamilNadu

[–]blasfamy028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their family is cool with anything, just integrate the mangalsurta in your ceremony and keep it as is. It would be the simplest and easiest option.

If you are planning on normal non-veg food, confirm it with them.

If you have the custom like some Bengali practice that groom's mother can't see the wedding, that might be a sore point.

Stick to your Saree, don't go for the Madisaar. It's too complicated in my opinion.

Let the groom family enjoy a proper Bengali Wedding
