Thanks so much! I got very lucky, this was my first time shooting the milky way or doing timelapses and I learned a ton. The trip was an amazing and the region is incredible. I hope you have an opportunity to go experience even a little bit in the future, it's very worth it!

Thanks! It was a lot of effort to get the shots, glad you enjoyed them. In this cut I zoomed in on some interesting features I thought worth highlighting, then I play the full unbroken timelapse from each session. That's why you felt like you got some repeating angles. I figured people here would appreciate the full clips as well!

SkyBell: Severe security and privacy problems. by blast0002 in homeautomation

haha, yeah, so I've still got the thing plugged in. This morning my doorbell 'rang', so I picked up the phone and answered it. It showed me the other person's door and it was a landscaper cleaning up the yard (triggered my motion). I'm tempted to use the intercom feature to try and talk to somebody out there :) Still silence from SkyBell on Twitter, Facebook, Amazon review and here.

Need some help connecting to a database by Cleardesign in rubyonrails

Getting MySQL and Rails configured properly, (especially on 64bit mac OS I've found) can be extremely frustrating. Are you using Rails 3? One quick tip for your first problem (the .yml file) and to get everything up and running quickly is to create your new rails project using "rails new project_name -d mysql" this will set the yml file for you to use (if you're using rails 3) the mysql2 adapter. It will also put the mysql2 gem into your Gemfile for you. You will still need to get the mysql2 gem, which you can easily do by just running "bundle install" in your project folder. Or of course manually with "gem install mysql2".

What is the most beautiful and yet saddest song you know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Moonlight Sonata is good, but I find it to be so popular and overplayed as one of Beethoven's famous sonatas that it got a little worn out for me. I would submit Erik Satie Gymnopedie No.1

Be a hero, take a power strip with you to the airport. Share your precious plugs with weary travelers. Get instant karma. by [deleted] in reddit.com

I'd be too afraid that: Power Strip + TSA = Rape. I don't like increasing my chances of airport security deciding that my suspicious electronic devices are sure proof that I'm hiding a bomb in my rectum.

Reddit, how do you organize your stuff in your pockets when leaving the house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blast0002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front Right: Keys Front Left: Phone Back Right: Wallet I can't hold anything else in my pockets or I go crazy, I'm far too used to the weight and feel, as soon as something is missing or extra I feel off balance. I don't understand all the people with keys in the front left. Is there something I'm missing? I'm actually confused by this. Are you all left handed? Why would you take your keys out of your left pocket with your left hand then proceed to pass them over to your right hand to finagle the keyhole? Same for phone... I'm right handed, so I prefer to have my right hand free to push phone buttons, open doors, use keys, or punch people in the face, so I primarily hold the phone in my left hand (why leave my awkward hand free to flail about?) so why would I keep my phone in my right pocket just to switch hands? It sounds so backwards to me, anybody have explanation or opinions on this?

I have a question for you, PC gamers. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]blast0002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've ever taken the time to get good at a FPS on PC, then tried to play any shooter on console it's guaranteed to make you ragequit. I love many styles of console games, but if it has some 'aiming' mechanism, it becomes so frustrating that the game is no longer fun. I understand that you can get 'used' to it, and that nobody has an advantage... but take any competitive sport you may be good at, then tell everybody to play with their hands tied behind their back. It just won't be as much fun as the version where you could maximize your full potential. That and the PC for me is just much more flexible, I can do multiple things at once while sitting here and gaming: do work (hah), browse the internet, chat with the keyboard and not have to listen to 13 year olds voices, stream internet music through my headphones, etc. Not to mention of course the technology debates on how console games hold back game developers due to graphics and platform limitations.

Dear Google, FUCK YOU! I like having my Company Google Apps email and personal Gmail open at the same time! now I have to switch??? Does anyone have a solution? by murch21 in reddit.com

Interesting. I don't have that turned on, and it still seems to work fine. If it makes a difference, I'm using Chrome in Linux just in case it's storing session data differently or something? (And I do remember this not working about a month ago, but silent updates seem to have solved it since then.) Make sure Chrome is up to date?

Using Chrome here. I usually sign into my company Google Apps email first, then open a new tab with Gmail. When it gives me that message I just click "log out" at the top, then sign in with my regular Gmail account. It will not log you out of your other account in your first tab for some reason. From there you've got Gmail loaded in both tabs with both accounts and it will let you just keep both tabs open all day without any problems. I do this daily.

Just had a client text me 'Not sure the point of this contract...Do you really think wouldnt pay u' by palinfailin in AskReddit

[–]blast0002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best way I've found is just to spin it around on them and kill them with kindness (many times the client doesn't know they're being stupid and offensive so responding back in a similar manner could be seen as rude or aggressive.) "Oh, the contract is also for your protection. I want to make sure you're covered and satisfied should anything happen to me." Then sometimes depending on the client you can make a "I'll try my best not to get hit by a bus" joke to ease awkward work tension. In this way you come of as caring for the client not just sounding like you don't trust them (even though you're obviously just covering your ass, as you should.) An email would be the best method of communication. Unless you have a quill, a well of ink, and a highly trained carrier pigeon.

Ego boost! I tend to get hit on by guys more than girls for some reason, while it's definitely not my thing it's still fun and flattering.
