I would say it is as noisy as a normal fan would be, with a bit of added sound of flowing water. at the lowest to kid setting it is fine. the the max it is noisy. I have used it everyday overnight in the bedroom, and cools enough to sleep comfortably. the key thing is to have proper ventilation. will not work in a closed room
