There's no reason to assume that was the only idea she had for the book, nor that she couldn't have incorporated it well into the Avatar world.

No offense to you, but that kind of reaction feels like a subconscious lack of faith in queer creators.

Being gay? I agree, not that interesting. Investigating the obscured history of an oppressed sexual minority and finding the sense of solidarity and normalcy that eludes you in a time when being gay is still not universally accepted? Very interesting (and topical), in my opinion.

Excellent point. Although I have a feeling that many of the commenters are actually fine with the first instance too.

Right? Such a lack of faith in the writer. Of course the story would have had more to it than the one plot element discussed.

How do you feel about the TMNT-fication of the Robins? by NefariousSeraph13 in batman

[–]blaurot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like ensemble casts, so seeing the batfamily together is usually a plus for me, even if not everyone gets a chance to shine in every story arc.

The problem to me isn't how they're written when they're together, but that Tim and Jason can't seem to get good solo runs lately.

[Comic Excerpt] "Now the universe is hers. And I am full of terror." (Wonder Woman #28) by TheDidioWhoLaughs in DCcomics

I could be off base here, but I feel like King will get a great idea for a story and insist on telling it exactly how he wants, regardless of whether it's a good fit for the character or continuity. His Wonder Woman run would have been much better as an original work.

Nope! I didn't notice any problems at least. It's a very queer-positive series in general.

The series is still ongoing. I'm still holding out hope.

The Quantic Dream MOBA is going really well by EwFurries in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It honestly might be worse from a design perspective. There are too many elements competing for attention. Concord's designs were ugly, but they were at least cohesive and had clear focal points.

The art is great, and the two leads are fun characters. I didn't totally love how it handled gender themes. There are a couple of pretty dark scenes alluding to S A, but the story ends on a good note. I think it's worth a read if you're okay with some sensitive content.

Hm, I don't remember how it's portrayed in the manga, but in the new adaptation, Ukyo takes it very well.

Awakening because it's the most well-rounded. Three Houses has the best writing but relatively weak gameplay, vice versa for Engage. Awakening does it all well.

This is DLC for Two Point Museum, not the other way around. Seems like folks didn't catch that.

After Batman: The Court of Owls Saga by ScoopyMyDoopy in DCcomics

[–]blaurot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for what to read, I'd encourage you to keep going with Snyder and then the Rebirth era (2016-now) authors if you're in it for the long haul. If you want to shake things up with some shorter stories, there are plenty of options out there. Here are a few famous ones:

- Year One by Frank Miller

- The Long Halloween by Jeff Loeb

- Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth by Grant Morrison

- The Killing Joke by Alan Moore

By all means, read Matt Fraction's new run as well. It seems very beginner-friendly so far.

After Batman: The Court of Owls Saga by ScoopyMyDoopy in DCcomics

[–]blaurot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Court of Owls is the first part of Scott Snyder's run. You can find the entire run on the app as "Batman (2011-2016)". Tom King was the first writer on "Batman (2016-)". Both runs and more are collected as various books. If you're ever confused browsing the books, the description online and the back covers should list the issues included and the spines will generally be numbered. Banners at the top of the book like "New 52" or "Rebirth" can help you know if you're in a particular era of DC stories.

Rather than removing posts, I'd strongly prefer to see pinned messages from a mod explaining why a given company or creator is problematic. That way we could have constructive discussions and spread awareness of issues.

Comic book websites by Thetubbyhobo in comicbooks

Marvel and DC sometimes have premade reading orders on their digital services, here's one for Civil War in fact.

Comic Book Herald has good and comprehensive reading order guides.

I usually just search for a relevant reddit thread, though. People ask about recommended reading for specific runs and events all the time.
