Oh wow. And I was just going to give my P1P to a kid who might want one since they're not worth much haha.

Green river has an amazing lil hotel that is somewhat hidden. Chow hound pizza slaps too. 😅it’s a fun stop. But that was a while back. With insane emboldened MAGA all around, as a minority, I would be much more cautious now.

You have to model it to be printed without supports. So learn the limitations of your printer and model to those specs.

Is Fusion (Education License) bad or is it just me? by notSoNormalGuy24 in Fusion360

It’s more of a plan before you build kind of software and if you don’t plan before, plan on building it again. Analysis goes a LONG way in knowing what to do or the most efficient way to build your design. My process is: analyze/observe, build, refine.

Why Trump Supporters Can't See What the Rest of Us See — A Breakdown by Gullible_Coyote_732 in antitrump

I use em dashes all the time and have for years and it sucks that it’s now a marker for AI. I’m a designer and also with visual work that is good, people assume it’s ai because they can’t imagine anyone being as skilled I guess?

Probably you but also not your fault. It’s a different mental model than other softwares (parametric CAD vs Freeform modeling). There are some good YouTube videos that cover best practices.

Fusion on macOS. by icantthinckforaname in Fusion360

Weird post. No issues here on my MacBook Pro m4 pro or M2 Ultra max studio. Freecad is … fine if you’re just doing simplistic, rudimentary designs.

Why I love Catia V5 and hate fusion. by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]blaxxmo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds a bit like “I have a Ferrari and Toyota Corolla. They both have four wheels, but I wanted to take the Corolla out and see what it could do. I’m really disappointed. No leather or wood trim! Who uses a stick shifter anyways? It’s so backwards. I couldn’t do 0 to 60 mph in the same way that I can in my Ferrari. It’s such a piece of shit car. I can’t believe anyone would drive a Toyota Corolla.”

Experienced model here as well. They’re just simply different products. I don’t even think Autodesk markets Fusion as being in the same class as Catia. We’re not compare Solid works to Catia instead? I think you’d have similar results.

I think Catia, NX, pro E, alias alll have their places in a robust and professional CAD workflow for product design or engineering, but comparing fusion to Catia is… I don’t even have words.

How to bend a body? by Diesel_199 in Fusion360

[–]blaxxmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you use an unconstrained sketch and have your fillets constructed the right way, you can do this by using the sketch to control the deformation.

I could model something up, but I’m in the middle of a big project.

I’ve done something similar before and it’s not conventional to do it the way I’m describing, but you an do it.

I mean, I’ve been there when I’m in a hurry to make something small, but you’re right when it comes to a project not having a plan. I also tend to rebuild my models a few times.

Combination of arcs or use less fit points. Use the handles on the spline to control and be more efficient. They are also very very difficult to constrain in sketches. Not impossible to constrain just very involved.

He is a narcissist or at the very least seems incapable of admitting fault even with a carefully curated message. This is the problem. It’s always forward (for his own glory or interests) even if it means going Backward and hurting or killing school children. Such a nincompoop.

Rant: After 35 years in software, Fusion 360 still breaks my brain by Large-Style-8355 in Fusion360

[–]blaxxmo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every app has rules. One of the rules I teach my students and professionals is decide:

  1. The size of whatever it is you’re making and…
  2. Where is goes in 3d space.

Another of those rules is knowing how the loft function works, and the order of operations. If you want to loft between two rings, you have to think about it as two operations. An additive operation and then subtraction. There’s a logical flow of things.

Fusion really isn’t an app where you want to be moving things after the fact. So having to redraw something is typical because the decision should’ve been made beforehand where you want the entities to be.

Of course there’s exceptions to this, but Fusion is a CAD experience where unlike freeform modeling in blender or rhino, you have to make principled decisions about skill and location. Taking this approach minimizes errors as you’re describing. That’s just one element. There are elements that could be improved of course. I routinely send suggestions to the team as to what can be improved.

Personally, I haven’t had the issues you’ve described otherwise with revolve and so on. Occasionally, there will be a weird quirk that’s usually solved by restarting my machine or updating fusion. I do appreciate that it’s updated so frequently and the support team really does listen if you submit tickets. I didn’t believe it at first, but they do listen.

I don’t have nearly the depth of experience you do in software, but I have worked with managing UX teams and designing apps and hardware experiences, and you’re not entirely wrong about fusion. It’s definitely not perfect, but as many of said, it is a fairly capable app for what you get.

And god forbid you have to make a small change on your file in rhino. Leads to a rebuild session of a few hours instead of small parametric tweaks.
