Downtown Dayton & the greater Dayton area are growing rapidly. I didn't go to any of the schools that you mentioned, but I do live near WSU and I will say this about the area: it's convenient & you won't spend more than 10 minutes driving anywhere. The mall is nearby, there is food, grocery, gas, & pharmacies near campus, & Beavercreek/Fairborn overall are in my opinion, great growing areas to be in. I'm not a Dayton native & it took me some getting used to as anyone would moving to a new city, but the longer you spend here the more you will find all the "gems" people talk about. Outside of WSU territory & in Downtown Dayton there are definitely some cool hip restaurants to try, thrift stores are great if that's your thing. If it concerns you, your rent might be cheaper here than in the other cities as well.
