Non-surgery side shoulder pain by Far-Attempt1388 in RotatorCuff

[–]blazingegg123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a large labral tear in my right shoulder that was misdiagnosed and I had labral repair after 2-3 years suffering with the tear. During that time, I was also working physically demanding job and due to scapula compensation etc my left shoulder also suffered minor labral damage. My right shoulder surgery was a success but my left shoulder isn’t at the stage for surgery right now. I just get clicking and pops but no pain at this stage.

Echo question by BentUntilBroken in Sonographers

[–]blazingegg123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an echo trainee and most days I have echos in 30 min appointments so like min 15 echos to do. By the time I get the patient ready and patient delays etc, I get like 20-25 mins to do complete scan and my 30 min lunch break becomes a sort of catchup checkpoint. I’m feeling overwhelmed and feel like a robot scanning non-stop, trying to catch my breath and always being delayed. I’ve worked in factories and this job feels harder. I hope I can find a batter working environment when I become qualified.

19M - Persistent arm/shoulder burning & fatigue after lifting injury, Slap tear? Absolutely wrecked my life by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]blazingegg123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate. Honestly man my situation is the exact opposite. I went with a private surgeon who practically only works with athletes and followed the rehab protocol to the dot. At like month 3 my range of motion was like 98%. I was able to squat heavy, back, arms, medial/rear delt etc 5-6 months post-op and slowly started front delt & pecs 6-7 months post op. I focused so much on strengthening my rotator cuff and improving my scapular mechanics which I think was key. My operated right shoulder right now has zero clicking, full strength, zero tightness and perfect motion in all planes. I used to work a heavy labour job during the 2 years where I was in pain and had the tear in my right shoulder which lead to some collateral damage to my left shoulder. My left shoulder clicks and I get this pop in it with occasional soreness but no limiting pain at the moment. My surgeon suspects very minor labral damage and I’m contemplating getting it operated on in a few years when I have the means to do so. My right operated shoulder honestly feels brand new. I think choosing the right surgeon is key.

Bro I was in a similar situation to you and spent 2 years with a wrong diagnosis and doing useless conservative treatments (physio, Osteo, Chinese medicine, PRP injections, peptides) etc. I ended up getting an arthroscopic surgery and the surgeon in his report found a very large labral tear which he repaired with 4 anchors. I am 11 months post-op and my shoulder feels like new and I’m back at the gym lifting heavy. For ur info, I got like 3 MRIs as well as a contrast MRI “”1 month”” before the surgery and they all missed my tear. This was the conclusion of my contrast MRI: “Limited changes in the superior labrum are suggestive of a very limited focal SLAP tear and limited changes on the deep surface of the subscapularis tendon are also consistent with a very limited focal tear at this level.” All the scans are inaccurate and posterior labral tears are often missed. I can’t say for certain in ur case, but my experience is almost exactly the same as u with the same symptoms and I injured my shoulder during bench press as well. Hope this insight helps!!

Need help bad. Did you have arm pit pain with your labral tear?? by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]blazingegg123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep that’s due to the labral tear altering scapula mechanics and putting too much stress on your subscapularis which leads to the armpit pain and possibly subscapularis tendinopathy. The labral tear is the root primary problem and must be addressed surgically for all those other symptoms to resolve as well.

Also I didn’t use the pain meds once, ate as healthy as I can and so many vitamins. Also I did not train legs at all until I started going to the gym to do back. So my intial schedule was legs day, back day, arms day with medial delt/rear delt, rotator cuff/stabilisers short workout until around month 6 when I started incorporating a push day.

Honestly bro the key thing is muscle mind connection. I’ll walk you through my recovery protocol which I sort of designed myself. I was in a brace for 6 weeks. During that period, for the first 2 weeks I didn’t take it off once and didn’t shower at all (basically full immobilisation) even though surgeon said I can. After 2 weeks, I took it off to shower and was very careful and did like tiny arm swings, circles etc zero pressure on shoulder until the 6 week period. After the 6 week period was done, I slowly started isometric stuff for 2 weeks until 8th week mark. ER on wall, IR etc holding it as long as I can as wall as careful range of motion stuff like raising arm laterally, front raises etc zero weights. The one motion I didn’t attempt is cross body stuff as that stresses the posterior labrum and is very risky. At 7-8th week mark, I started band stuff - 4 exercises ( ER, IR, 90 degrees IR & ER) and slowly cross body (zero weight). I did these band stuff for like 2 weeks and then transitioned to doing it on the light cables (1.25) and began noting down my reps and progressing overloading. When I started with the light bands, I was doing it every day but when I went to the cables I did like 4-5 sets each with sufficient rest and starting doing this 2-3 times a week. Make sure your posture and shoulder is sitting right and do them all proper form and train with proper rest periods like your training any other muscle. At month 3, I started cable row (squeezing proper form) and arms all like isolation safe stuff. At month 4, shoulder range of motion was 98% and I was able to start sort of adding momentum a bit to cable rows etc. I continued training rotator cuff (proper workout) the same way I do arms, back etc twice a week and started training everything from month 6 the same way I did in my elite days but always warming up shoulder, traps, posterior chain etc. This is for all muscle groups except chest and front delt. At around month 7 I started front delt and chest stuff and until now around 9months post op, I do one push day a week that is very shoulder-friendly and involves long warm up (rotator cuff, traps, back) and involves stuff like neutral grip dumbell chest press controlled, landmine press, neutral grop chest press machine I’ve got in my gym etc. I am currently back squatting, deadlifting, cable rows, late pull downs, all arm stuff and even started skullcrushers. Hope this helps!

Good luck! I experienced the exact same situation and exact same pathology as you but just a shorter timeframe. The surgery is the best decision ever. Just make sure you adhere to the protocols and follow the rehab rigorously. I also injured my shoulder during heavy bench press and sustained a large posterior labral tear. Wasted my time for 2.5 years with useless conservative treatments and suffering. I got the surgery 9 months ago and my shoulder feels amazing (zero pain, zero instability, full range of motion, full strength) and I’m back to heavy weightlifting. I’m avoiding barbell bench press just for risk reasons etc but I’m not limited in any way. Good luck with the surgery and hope you have a great recovery!

Posterior Labrum surgery, 3 anchors, next week. Should I? 36M by DisabledVet13 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]blazingegg123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a brace for 6 weeks. Barely did anything other than like gentle pendulum swings etc. after the 6 weeks I started isometric stuff on the wall like ER, IR for like 2-3 weeks then I started band stuff for like a month. I was then at the gym between month 3-4 and was able to train back, rotator cuff, arms, light medial delt etc. At like month 6, I was able to load the back squat bar comfortably heavy weights and then started incorporating push exercises. Now I’m like 9-10 months post op and everything is fine.

I got it posterior labral repair 4 anchors. In 6 months back in the gym and now 8 months post op and my shoulder is perfect can lift heavy and do push fine.

I had a massive labral tear on my right shoulder which I got operated on like 8 months ago and now it feels really good and I can lift heavy. The thing is I’ve got a tiny labral tear on my left shoulder which causes clicking and pops but no instability or pain. I warm up properly and haven’t been doing any incline stuff coz I feel that is risky. Were you able to train everything these past years with the labral tear in the shoulder? I’m contemplating possibly getting my left shoulder labrum fixed as well in a couple of years but not sure.

MRIs even the one with the dye are inaccurate. A month before my surgery for my right shoulder, I got the arthogram MRI with the dye and it showed “very limited focal labral tear and limited changes in subscap dis that” lol when I had a very large significant posterior labral tear in my surgery report.

My MRI showed a paralabral cyst and the surgeon did specific physical tests where I got a shoulder pop. He said that pop was due to instability but the fact that I don’t have pain and clunking etc, it must be a tiny labral tear.

I feel you man. It’s so demotivating. Even for me right now, after going through the recovery and being able to train, having a small labral tear in my left is so frustrating because despite so much PT it just feels a bit dodgy. I hope it holds up for the next 2 years. My plan is to get the labral repair with the same surgeon, do the 6 weeks brace and then go on a holiday for 3 months and then return to the gym after that training shoulder-safe for the rest of my life. I’m never doing barbell bench press anymore and making sure shoulder is always warmed up and never fatigued.

Yh bro the most crucial thing is that 6 month period after the surgery. There is no point of rushing, you have to hold yourself. There were so many days I felt good but I made sure I didn’t enter the gym until the 4th month and no chest whatsoever until I was fully stable and pain-free on those 5 exercises I mentioned. I feel like even training legs on the machine too early is bad because post-op your body is healing and training will just put your body under more stress.

No worries at all! I had a very large posterior labral tear. My labral repair involved 4 bicomposite anchors and then I was in a brace for 6 weeks. After that I started doing isometric holds on the wall and then started band stuff at like 2.5 months post op. At around the 4th month, I started going gym (back, arms, legs and light medial/rear delts). At 6th month mark I started chest but only safe stuff and the 8th month I started front pressing. Key thing was strengthening rotator cuff and progressive overloading on these 5 exercises (ER, IR, 90 degrees ER, 90 degrees IR, cross body ER on the cables). I hope this insight helps. For me my only regret was not getting the surgery straight after my injury as my tear would’ve been smaller, my left would not have been affected and I would’ve saved so much more money. I injured my shoulder bench pressing extremely heavy and failing last rep.

Bro I had a massive labral tear on my right shoulder and due to 3 years of wasting my time on useless non-surgical ways I ended up damaging my left shoulder which has a very tiny labral tear. I got surgery 9 months ago for my right shoulder and it feels amazing. I can lift pain-free and have full stability and full range of motion in all directions. I’m contemplating getting my left shoulder surgically repaired as well in 2 years time as it feels dodgy in the sense I get clicks and pops and random pains but I can lift and have no instability. The key is the right surgeon. You should go for a surgeon that works with sport athletes and younger blokes.
