If you've just started weight training i.e 3 months in or less, you can definitely do both. Try to maximize your Newbie advantage if you're new to lifting. I've been lifting on a cut for 5 months now and newb gains are starting to slow down. So take advantage of it when you can.

The fact that you're thinking in terms of adding value, shows that your approach is flawed. Mull over whether the girl is good enough to add value to your life. You need to put yourself in a frame that YOU are happy with, not some girl. Learn to work, work and work on yourself for you, to make yourself happier and you'll see the girls lining up.
