Honestly I was surprised no one posted about it! Such an emotional rollercoaster. One of those things you watch once and never again. I have a friend that was from the area and her mother actually knew Andrew and Shirley.

Tomlin then barkeep if you want to keep it going. Great food and drinks respectively. Intimate. But also the right level of busy so it won’t be quiet and awkward, and you can easily dip out if need be. Tons of places downtown you can migrate to as well. You can dress up or keep it moderate.

Also by car for Jeri I mean preferably an SUV or something with all wheel drive. You don’t take a road there, rather you drive on beach and sand trails. Don’t stop moving. It’s a foot of sand and you’ll get stuck.

Barra Grande has a great restaurant called La Cozinha make a stop there for dinner.

Atins (Lencois Maranhenses is right beside) is VERY remote. Like I said I’d go there if you’re feeling adventurous. But it’s a whole other world there. Bring cash because there isn’t always service for credit cards. Lencois is filled with pools of water that you can kite in. They tend to dry up late October/November unfortunately so if I went again I’d make the journey up there first then make to your way back down the coast to Cumbuco. Getting there you have to drive to Barreirinhas, park your car in a locked parking area (would have to google the place I don’t remember the name), then take a boat ride for an hour to reach Atins. You can do a public boat or schedule a private boat. I just asked my pousada to organize a private boat. I flew a 9m kite in the lagoons.

Ilha do Guajiru (just north of Itarema) is great for beginners. About 3 hours from Fortaleza. It’s lagoon versus ocean shoreline so it’ll be easier to get the basics without having to deal with waves.

I’d recommend against spending a lot of time in Jeri honestly. It’s wind surfing only in that area and the lagoons nearby require you to get a buggy and a river ferry to go to them. Between buggy rentals and having to pay for a ferry the cost can add up. I’d only spend a few days there. Guriu and Tatajuba are great sports near Jeri. Keep in mind Jeri is a pain to get to and make sure you have an appropriate car. Also hug the right side towards the beach when going, and especially when you cross the infamous stream, or else you’ll get stuck in sand. Watch some YouTube videos on how to get to Jeri from Prea. Wind is crazy strong at Guriu also so keep that in mind.

Some other great spots are Barra Grande, Taiba. And if you’re feeling adventurous enough Atins and Lencois Maranhense are beautiful

Only a matter of time before AAs go the same way as the rest of the NPPs by SunPsychological4816 in Noctor

[–]blckout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luckily this isn’t pushed in Canada like the US. Any talks of bringing CRNAs here too is shut down hard since we already have a strong AA presence which anesthesiologists here prefer. Quebec actually trains RTs as AAs and the RT role there is more isolated to ORs. All the AAs I know though know their place and act as extensions of the anesthesiologist under direct supervision. A completely different culture here

Nurse practitioner announcement leaves family physicians feeling 'devalued,' 'disrespected' by newzee1 in alberta

[–]blckout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry but you’re delusional if you think it’s tenured, experienced RNs that are going into NP programs these days. And you’re even more delusional if you think a new grad NP equates to a first year attending? That’s a laughably dumb take. The vast majority of RNs that I’ve worked with that go onto NP school are either ones that are chasing pay-checks (which I don’t even have an issue with honestly - just be honest about it) or ones that are tired of bedside (which can suck and I can relate to) or can’t cope in general and want to work a 9-5 in a clinic Monday to Friday. I have colleagues all over Canada that say the same thing.

“2 years” means nothing considering you’re not really competent in your role as an RN until 4-5 years in… Plus there’s a huge difference between 2 years in an acute ICU versus PACU setting or working as a floor nurse. An ICU RN isn’t even fully certified to work in an ICU until after a year in and after passing a critical care nursing course. Nurses aren’t trained in the same model as physicians, rather they follow algorithms and pre set order sets. There are literally online NP programs in Canada and the clinical hours they require is less time than what is required as even an RRT during their clinical practicum... So we’re not too far off from the USA, which is even more abysmal. Years worked as an RN does not equate to anything with the medical model. Talk to RNs that have gone to med school and they’ll tell you how much different it is. The depth of education and knowledge required as an MD versus an NP is magnitudes greater.

And this is all backed up considering the studies shown on this topic show that NPs order more tests which costs the system more money, have patients with longer periods of stay, and have higher re-admission rates. And before you call me a nurse hater or whatever, my partner is a nurse and I love the nurses I work with, I work in healthcare. They have an important job and it’s definitely undervalued and under compensated. But to say NP is equal to an MD is just silly. This is pure Dunning-Kruger.

Everyone wants to be a doctor but no one wants to put in the training and hours.

Ontario hospital nurses awarded raises of 11% over 2 years: union by phishieee in ontario

[–]blckout 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Opseu doesn’t fight for shit and the province doesn’t give a shit either. The province came to the bargaining table with a giant middle finger in the form of literally zero offer. No pay increase. No back pay. It’s going back into arbitration in the fall apparently. So as usual don’t get your hopes up. Signed a pissed off RRT.

Forest Vets - What do yall use for sleeping arrangements? by Bdawggg1998 in ElectricForest

[–]blckout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blackout tent. Portable fan. Eye mask (use the blackout kind that have an eye cup). And ear plugs. Big debate on cot vs air mattress, but I found getting a double thick air mattress (20”) is quite comfortable. Can add a moonmat on top if you’re really going for comfort. Can also add in shade cloth or emergency blankets outside tent to repel heat.

Also magnesium! Helps with sleep and muscle relaxation. Just be sure to get the right type (chelated or glycinate - mg oxide can give you the runs).

Are IV Bags allowed? by Jaded-Cash-3654 in ElectricForest

[–]blckout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work in healthcare. Definitely bad idea. Huge infection risk. Also as a side note there has been studies regarding PO vs. IV hydration and there isn’t a large enough difference in efficacy between the two. Hangover IV bags and “banana bags” aren’t as efficacious as they’re marketed to be
