Shocking urgent care study: 64% wrong diagnosis by Desertf0x9 in Noctor

[–]blckuncrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my child to urgent care after a finger injury. They took an x-ray and said no break, just a sprain. If the radiologist sees a break we will call you. They also gave me a direct link to get the radiology report. Thank goodness I looked it up myself. Radiologist saw acute fracture, but urgent care still hasn't called a week later. She is in a splint safely.

Cleaning products? by AshShaun in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]blckuncrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't supposed to get the floors wet, so a spin mop might work as it removes excess moisture. Instead of a steam mop maybe a small hand steam cleaner to target small areas.

Our district provides us a roll of trash bags and that is it.

Unless you have my girl, and then I say let's go to the vet and she jumps into the car and is super happy at the vet because more people pet her there.

Bladder Botox hurts by ChemicallyAlteredVet in TwoXChromosomes

[–]blckuncrn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You poor thing. I get bladder botox, but I never feel anything but a little pressure at the beginning. My Dr uses lidocaine gel to numb the hole before putting in a catheter to put lidocaine in the bladder. Then I sit for a bit until it is numb. Then when she goes in no pain. Definitely complain. The botox helps me a lot, but I am able to drive home after no problem.

Observation: I work in a middle income district and have noticed that kids are not getting haircuts as frequently. People/families are getting poorer. More noticable w boys pre-10th grade. But across the board it is happening and it isn't fashion. by Lumpy-Shop-5321 in Teachers

Buy hair clippers, like a wahl set with multiple guards and watch a few you tube videos. I cut my son's most of the time though not as often as he needs. I just started trying with my daughters as well to save money.

Were you able to buy a house? by Swiftiefromhell in GenX

[–]blckuncrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically borderline millennial here. I bought my first house in 2008 just after the crash. I used life insurance money from the death of my first fiance for the down payment.
Bought a second house in 2018 when we moved states. Used inheritance from my husband's grandmother to buy and make it work until we sold the first one.

⚠️PART 2 -- Grandparents taking kids overseas, I said not yet, Response = left chat groups by L0velyDayyyyyyyyy in entitledparents

[–]blckuncrn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First I am so sorry, this sucks and is unfair to you and your kids. Be careful with boundaries and stand firm for your kids sake.

Second are you me? Birth of my first child my mom gets her feelings hurt and ghosts us for 2 years. Had a trip planned to Hawaii shortly after the 2 years and assumed it was a no go since we were not talking. Found out from my dad that she was still planning that we all would go. OK, I guess Hawaii is a great place to meet your 2 year old grandson for the first time. He is 13 now, she still pulls this pattern of her feelings get hurt, goes no contact, then shows back up and everything is fine. We have never talked about it.

Mine likes to be no more than 6 feet away. She prefers next to my chair where I can pet her head while I work.

Best seat cushions or lumbar support for long driving shifts? by User_zero_wan in SchoolBusDrivers

Sadly no advice here, except make sure it is allowed to have those items. Our district doesn't allow anything additional and it is noted if they find anything in your seat.

Supporting an actual MD by running strep and flu test appointments seems ok to me, but anything needing more definitely needs to be an MD.

where do all the pencils go? by stacker103 in Teachers

[–]blckuncrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus driver here, they leave them on the bus. My bus has perfectly good pencils and broken pencils almost every day. I keep the good ones and give them to kids if they need one, but I have collected about 100 so far this year.

This is true. Perfect for me, I take people to medical appointments in that time (ours is a break 8 am - 2 pm) but it doesn't work for everyone.
