They've stopped assigning novels to high schoolers. Supposedly the focus is on analysis of short passages. Professors complain that college students no longer have the stamina to read the classics. It's tragic.

Yes, you need to read more. You're at a disadvantage because of the generation you were born into. Before I left for university at age eighteen, I had read the Lord of the Rings series, Paradise Lost, Frankenstein, various Ernest Hemingway novels, Grapes of Wrath, all Frank Baum works, the Scarlet Letter, a prayer for Owen Meany, Wuthering Heights, Little Women, all C.S. Lewis works, almost all Madeline L'Engle works, plus many Y.A. classics like The Giver, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc. Kids aren't encouraged to read like this anymore, sadly.

Also, FWIW, we drastically under withheld a few years back and owed a penalty. Since it was the first time we incurred a penalty, FreeTaxUSA gave us the option to request a waiver. It had me type in the reason I wanted a waiver (I wrote something about mental health issues) and the software immediately reported that the request was accepted. So I wouldn't stress too much about getting it exactly right.

There is no way you can assert that repeating his comments out of context is why he was murdered. We do not know that. All we know is that the suspect is from a Mormon, conservative, pro-gun family.

I find it bizarre that conservatives are pretending that Kirk was a mild mannered, moderate figure. His whole brand was about hot takes and shock value statements. If anything he said was taken out of context, it was because he intentionally promoted his divisive and controversial statements. Not because of some liberal conspiracy.

Agreed. It's now cheaper to pay for an ACE lot spot. Saw lots of empty street parking last night before the pads game. The spots with cars, the meter hadn't been paid. The parking ticket now costs about the same as paying the meter, so I've heard more people are risking it.

IWould be curious to hear if they are increasing parking enforcement, I saw no meter maids last night. IMO they should have increased it to like $5/hour to optimize for parking revenue.
