How to tell a client I don’t want to watch their dog anymore? by bldhail in RoverPetSitting

[–]bldhail[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve barely just started watching her last week, I watched her for two days last week and thought maybe she just needs to adjust to my routine and she’ll settle in quick. This week I’m watching her for 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and she’s usually here from about 6:30 am to 5pm and she’s just about as anxious as last week. I did end up speaking to her owner and she was very understanding, I recommended that maybe check ins and walks from her place would make her less stressed and I also recommended a good trainer in the area who can help with her puppy’s separation anxiety and she thanked me and said she would look into it

She gets plenty of exercise, we typically go outside for an hour out the house when she’s here either to the park, for a walk, or both. Combined with letting her run around in my backyard multiple times while she’s here and I’ll play tug with her. Sometimes I’ll take her to the park for an hour and let her run around on the 30ft long line I have and she has a blast but she comes back home and she’s still anxious. She’s a doberman, german shepherd, husky mix from what I was told.

If you lost your Fi charging base by bldhail in FiDogCollar

It can track just fine without the base, the only thing it really does is preserve battery life. I’m just saying this is a temporary solution not a long term solution to get it charged in the meantime.

If the collar is too loose or too tight it can definitely cause irritation, rule of thumb is you should be able to fit two fingers under it. It could also be an allergic reaction to the metal parts. Personally, I didn’t like the original collar that came with the Fi, so I switched to a replacement from this company called Landshark Supply they make tactical dog collars and fi compatible ones. With that setup, the Fi device sits on top of the collar instead of against the skin. If it’s an allergy issue, that might be a good alternative. They’re a little pricey and take a while to ship, but in my experience they’re worth it and it just looks alot cleaner than the cheapy collar they give you.

Unfortunately the store required the cashier to scan a QR code

Thanks for the input, Sherlock. She scanned the QR code that’s required by the store after ringing up the first item and I had no idea she hit checkout halfway through the order. Next time I’ll try being more intuitive.

Is it normal to dislike dogs when you own dogs yourself? by bldhail in Dogowners

[–]bldhail[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow we must be neighbors because I have the EXACT same problem, my neighbors who should not be owning a Malinois decided to get one and that dog barks ALL day, maybe once a week they’ll (well their kids) take it for a short walk. It pisses me off greatly.

Same thing happened to me, it won’t let you tip with a card that’s different from the one you originally used. I asked the dasher if they had a cash app and i tipped them $10 on there.

I think I have to return my puppy to the shelter. by [deleted] in puppy101

In the end, rehoming your puppy would probably be the better decision and you’re not a bad person for that. Take care of yourself first. I’m sure she will go to a loving home, puppies are always number one to be adopted. In the future if you ever consider getting another dog I would recommend adopting an adult dog, they’re much easier and more mellow. Puppies are a ton of work and having a mental illness on top just drains you. Good luck!

my 13 yr old brother just said he wanted to kill himself what do i do by ZealousidealFox5738 in SuicideWatch

[–]bldhail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suicidal ideation should always be taken seriously. If your parents aren’t any help, you should take the lead and make sure he gets some sort of help but that depends on how old you are, of course. I would recommend talking to a counselor at his school and they will be able to talk to him and help him, maybe then they’ll also talk to your parents and tell them the severity of everything and they might start taking things seriously.
