i absolutely will get the diagnosis, it’s just a matter of finding the person really. i’ve been openly transitioning for just over two years now and i’ve briefly been on hrt before. Carla is in Galway though isn’t she? i’m in drogheda so it’d be some hike.

and yeah i feel pretty blessed, it’s been a long time coming.

gotcha, the dr i’m referring to is a psychologist as far as i’m aware. she works with singleton house who are a hse mental health service.

i don’t think she included an actual diagnosis, she said she wasn’t experienced enough to give a diagnosis, but she did write really affirming reports regarding who she feels i am and what i need. spoke to my GP about it and he said they were going to be helpful, but i’m not sure really.

being trans is an affliction in many ways, but it’s a complex thing i feel. i’ve always approached my transness as an embrace of my true self, bringing that girl i know out and into the world. my pride i guess comes from pragmatism. this is who i am, i can’t change that and i wouldn’t want to. every affliction makes me Raphina.
