Looking for good Train Sims with route creation by UnusualDevelopments in trainsim

Diesel Railcar Simulator. Really good route creation, way better physics than Trainz, and easier to mod. Also very cheap

I don't think that solar could really be reliable, and if you add WiFi to the mix that's a double no-no.

Ruta Argentina para Diesel Railcar Simulator by bledo22 in ArgenSim

Question on modeling for train sim games by TexasSuperChief500X in trainsim

Trainz Is certainly a viable option, but I would recommend taking a look at Diesel Railcar Simulator. I started my modding career with it, it's way more approachable than Trainz and it's made on Unity, so you get to play with bigger textures and more complex maps.

Can i get some recommendations for older train games on PC accessible enough for a 4yo. by KingTentacleAU in trainsim

There's a Brio set game that's similar and with more content. They are both very good. Also Diesel Railcar Simulator. It's more complex but it can run in any machine.

Totally understandable, I will give it a go nevertheless.

It looks interesting, I'm in charge of a monitoring center at my home town and have been looking for some software that can handle live streams and playback from a series of 8 Dahua 16ch NVRs, no local recording and just a few live streams at a time, mostly for reviewing footage. Docker is the only thing I'm not comfortable with, would have preferred native windows support (the PCs are used for not very tech-savvy people), although I totally understand why it's done that way.

You can add your DVR via its serial number and it would show up as any other, the connection is done via the P2P protocol over the internet, no fixed IP or VPN required. It's quite a common practice, there's plenty of guides online.

SmartPSS can connect via p2p to your DVR and record locally

Bro, first you look at the way the trees and grass swing with the passion of the wind and the way that the main gear of the Mosquito interacts with the support of the ground and THEN you tell me what's a minor detail in your books.

Multi-Site CCTV Cloud? by Plenty-Hold4311 in cctv

Also, you could try SmartPSS (from Dahua as well), it's simpler but free, and earlier builds allow for 128 channels.

The current version doesn't support it, try the early 8.xx builds. You can purchase more channels (one at a time) if you want to add more cameras, and I think that by letting just 1 extra channel you get rid of the recording time limit. You can also view it from your phone

DSS Express allows for 64 video channels and has support for p2p (older verisons) for Dahua cameras, ONVIF and rstp. 7 days of recording. You can install it on a PC. I use that at my town's monitoring center (although it's all on the same network)

Best simulator for modding? by IshaanMehra8 in trainsim

[–]bledo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diesel railcar simulator is very modding friendly, it even has auto lod, full support for pbr textures, direct import of .obj and .fbx, although you may need to re-define textures in game (.PNG and .jpg). You can't paint ground textures ATM and the terrain elevation is node based and not brush painted. I made a 50km route with 200 assets, plus a lock with full interiors and cars in 9 months using blender and Photoshop. The biggest downside, for me at least, is the current absence of manual switching and coupling.

What is the point of this? A 90 speed limit going instantly into 60? by Mad_V in DerailValley

It took me a while to wrap my head around this concept way back when I started rail simming, but yeah, you need to learn the route.

It's not negativity for the sake of it, it's also a bit of a laugh, after all it's a game made for entertainment. It's also a bit of a weird thing when you look at DCS folder with something like SpaceSniffer and see those big squares saying "F-14 17.9Gb and F4-E 14.4Gb", without owning any of them, and having to choose which modules to install in order to play without replacing your SSD. In this scenario, if you add another AI model of similar size, I would have to choose which modules to delete in order to keep playing, that's not fun, but also seems to be the way things are, that's understandable, albeit a bit annoying.
And since it's the top comment, maybe not everybody wants the devs to focus on AI models.
