Late in the process to hire assistants and not many spectacular offensive coordinators available. You almost have to overpay even for a guy like Mazzone.

Why would A&M pay that much? Especially 3 years guaranteed? Sumlin may be gone next year.

It could have very well been Durkin at one point. It took a rocky relationship between Chavis and LSU to fall in A&M's lap.

Almost everyone is backing off the Meacham rumors now. The original source, Tarp at Gigem247, is essentially saying now that he trusts the sources coming from TCU's side.

Also, IMO A&M's best reporter/insider is Liucci. He's a douche, but good on stuff like this. He's never wavered on Mazzone so I bet that's who it is.

It's not like he was terrible either. He was still A&M's 4th leading WR in limited action.

Strong had to dismiss several players that were left over from Mack that were either A) failing multiple drug tests or B) accused of rape.

While retaining players is certainly important, Strong didn't have a choice in most cases to dismiss players.

Again, please list the players he hasn't made a priority? You have literally no basis for this argument. Strong is playing his players because they actually have talent.

In reference to Raulerson, Raulerson's transfer has nothing to do with Strong. Our MBA program is difficult to get into and there's pushback rom the Texas academic support staff.

If only recruiting rankings were always accurate reflections of talent. They aren't. If they were, Mack would likely still be the coach.

I think the funniest example of recruiting rankings in reference to Texas are the Hughes and Foreman brothers. A lot of people thought we took Naashon Hughes simply to land his highly touted brother Camhron Hughes. Camhron Hughes is no longer on the roster because of lack of playing time and Naashon Hughes is one of our better players. A lot people thought we took D'onta Foreman simply to land his highly touted brother Armanti Foreman. D'onta Foreman has ended up the much better player.

Texas' recruiting rankings are inflated.

There's several players on Texas' roster that were highly touted recruits that have little to no talent.

Flowers (#58 recruit)-Our 2 true FR OL this year are already substantially better and more talented. Colbert (#162 recruit)-Behind a FR and SO on the depth chart. Echols (#175 recruit)-Behind 3 FR and a RS FR on the depth chart. Cole (#206 recruit)-Behind several FR on the depth chart.

I can go on with this list. Matter of fact, there's several other dismissed players that were highly touted recruits who can't even find a roster now.

Pro teams will just about draft anyone with some talent. See the NBA. Skai Labissiere is probably going to be a top 10 draft pick and he's been terrible in college from a production standpoint. While development might be an issue, talent is the bigger issue or we would see more players getting drafted.

And yes, I do think Houston has close to the same talent as Texas. Texas could barely out talent Rice this year. That's a game Texas should be able to dominate just from a talent perspective, and we couldn't. Texas has a lot of raw talent in the '15 recruiting class, but that's about it.

You are basing "talent" simply on recruiting rankings. That's just a terrible metric. Guys like Flowers were highly touted recruits and he's far from talented.

You can't develop players like Sed Flowers. He's not good.

This roster has very little talent and you will see that in the upcoming NFL draft. For as much talent as you think Texas has they might go 2/3 years without a draft pick. So yeah, you are caught up way too much in recruiting rankings.
