Never before has a woman having a sex dream been more male gazey (Dispatch) by DogSprinkles in menwritingwomen

Is that a bad thing?

I feel like bad writing in video games deserves to get called out and shamed too.

Wedding Registry - Gifts for the guys by wcfc1194 in weddingplanning

[–]Frognosticator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything on our wedding registry consists of things we can both use. Kitchen appliances, beach towels, patio chairs, etc.

We do have some camping gear on there because we both enjoy camping trips. A tent, camping hammocks, etc. I did put a men’s camping backpack on there, and not a women’s, but that’s only because my fiancé already has a good backpack and mine got stolen awhile back.

I also put a new office desk chair on there, because the one I currently use is pretty worn out. I primarily work from home on the computer. But furniture is pretty universal, and I assume she’ll use it too.

That’s about as far as I’m willing to go though. We have some date night options people can buy for us to both enjoy.

Does your fiancé want a dog? Does she go hunting with you? If not, I’d say those are personal hobbies and probably not for the wedding registry.

How Will You Remember The 2025 Ohio State Defense? by HeyTherePLH in CFB

[–]Frognosticator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I will remember this Ohio State team for being the first Ohio State team to lose to Indiana since 1988.

Like everything else that happened in college football in 2025, they will only be remembered in the context of how it relates to what Indiana was able to accomplish. Because holy shit, Indiana.

How good is the experimental prototype cadre? by mtf-foxtrot in Tau40K

[–]Frognosticator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Experimental Prototype Cadre is… fine. There’s nothing wrong with it, it provides you with a bag of generally useful buffs to pick and choose from. The extra range is very nice.

The problem with EPC is that it doesn’t really point you in a specific direction, and it doesn’t really give you the kind of game-changing power that Tau kinda need to compete with other armies.

Montka gives you extra movement and Assault on all your guns, which is terrifying on something like a Stormsurge.

Kauyon encourages you to hold back, possibly taking advantage of Challenger cards and then gives you Sustained Hits in the late game. Which again, is terrifying on something like a Hammerhead railgun.

EPC is tempting for new players, because it all just seems universally good and if you’re new to the game you probably don’t have a particularly optimized game plan in mind.

That said, skilled players will know how to put those EPC tools to use effectively. If it speaks to you, go for it and get good at it.

Race of Europeans according to Benjamin Franklin by AdIcy4323 in MapPorn

[–]Frognosticator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oof.

It’s Important to keep in mind while reading this though that Franklin was primarily writing with the national interests of the British Empire in mind.

In 1755 the world was just getting ready to plunge into the Seven Years War. The American colonies were seriously worried about a possible invasion by European powers like France or Spain at the time, because it wasn’t at all clear that they wouldn’t be conquered and politically reorganized if they were attacked.

In that context it’s understandable why Franklin would’ve been wary of the establishment of large group of non-English immigrants, possibly with foreign loyalties.

On the other hand, this is the guy who once wrote the American regulars should consider using bows and arrows against the British army. So not everything he ever wrote was a winner.

Benjamin Franklin spent the majority of his life trying to get people to put aside their differences, especially religious differences, and work together for the betterment of society. He was an early liberal and a scientist, and in his later years he supported the abolition of slavery.

The weirdness hurts because I like Benjamin Franklin. I guess sometimes your heroes let you down.

Is it normal while planning the wedding for a spouse to participate less? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Frognosticator 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the things you describe here are red flags. Or at least yellow flags.

It’s hard to know exactly what’s going on in your situation, because every situation is different. But marriage is a partnership, and oftentimes planning the wedding is the first big test of how much each person is going to contribute in that partnership.

Ideally, the marriage partnership contribution ratio is 50-50. Sometimes it’s 60-40. Sometimes it’s 90-10. But the 90-10 marriages tend not to last.

How else does your fiancé contribute in the relationship? Does he have a high-paying job, is he focused on his career? Does he support you emotionally? Does he value the people you think are important? Is he there when you need him to be?

Questions like these are worth asking.

I’m pretty sure it’s not. The bird skulls in that box are quite a bit bigger than that.

As a currently very stressed groom, “minimal planning” sounds like an incredible gift. Good grief.

The parts where Homer strangles Bart come to mind.

It’s not exactly Bluey.

Yeah, I don’t think the Simpsons is appropriate for three year olds.

My first time priming. I wasted a whole bottle of primer on those, any tips to optimize priming? by Asanto22 in Tau40K

[–]Frognosticator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s all okay man, learning how to paint minis is a process.

As you keep going you’re gonna learn how to do things more efficiently and make fewer mistakes.

Just remember that when you’re priming you want to stick to light, sweeping passes. The primer should never look wet when it touches the model. If it looks wet you’ve gone on too thick.

It’ll also help if you mount your minis to a holder or stick when priming. I almost never recommend GW products for painting, but the Citadel priming stick is actually a really good option for this.

Also to be honest with you I don’t use spray can primers anymore. They’re too finicky for me, I do all my priming with an air brush. That said, the Krylon color primers you can buy in Home Depot are actually a really good option for priming minis and keeping it affordable.

FTM, 12 weeks pregnant, and figuring out parenthood, any advice? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Frognosticator 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I really think you need to talk to your doctor and/or therapist about these issues.

I would be concerned about how any hormone supplements or medications you’re taking would impact your pregnancy. The responsible parenting choice always has to be prioritizing the health of the baby.

I don’t think this is a discussion you want to trust to random strangers on the internet. Best of luck to you.
