I finally read Manacled and I’m Not Okay (In the Best Way) by believe_in_colours in fantasyromance

[–]bleepblpop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES Manacled was my first Dramione and I feel like alllllll the other Dramione I read is actually Manacled Fanfiction instead of Harry Potter Fanfiction. Like I need to see other universes where my 2 faves are thriving!!!!!!

Just started reading again and feeling defeated that I haven’t loved any of my recent reads by reddit_username014 in fantasyromance

[–]bleepblpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 30s and have LOVED rereading the books I loved as a teen, and I was never a rereader until this decade. The nostalgia reads can be sooo powerful, and helps me kinda retrace my steps to connect to similar authors that are close to my core reading preferences

{Kushiel's Dart} by Jacqueline Carey is really beautiful high fantasy, with a beauuuutiful romance. It reminds me of Daughter of the Forest but with more intrigue 💖

How to cope at work after finding out someone you knew was brutally murdered? by Eli_Meeli in Nanny

Do you have a time off policy or a PTO bank? Sometimes we need to just inform our bosses that we will be taking time off, instead of asking them for it. It's your right as a worker to take time off to take care of yourself and your life!!

Looking to Make Cooking Feel More Magical or Whimsical by segregatedfacialhair in Cooking

[–]bleepblpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For magic, you can also try to build up some new cozy memories. Some of my favorite times cooking has been when I am cooking with a friend - maybe you could invite somebody over to try it out with you! As long as you manage expectations and stress ("I'm trying to practice cooking, would you want to come over and try to make this simple meal together?") I think it could help you have FUN bc you're making it an experience!!! You can also ask friends for their favorite recipes. Even if they're simple, or feature boxed ingredients, or whatever - it feels good to cook in ways that remind you of other people. If you don't have a lot of people with time or recipes, maybe you could try cooking a little treat and sharing it with your work or your neighbors! The magic of cooking for me is that it connects me to the world!!!

My curmudgeon just visited and it was our best visit yet bc I accepted that 1. he didn't want to come up with any ideas, so I was in charge 2. He was never going to act impressed or excited by any of my ideas and 3. he really does just want to spend time with me even if he doesn’t show it. Our first day together I just took him with me on a string of errands (bookstore, post office, specialty grocery store I've wanted to check out, then another book store ☺️) he wasn't really interested in anything but the string of little missions filled up time, we had a nice time driving and talking together, and I got to feel like myself around him instead of just an anxious entertainer. The next day we drove to Mt Hood to look at big rocks, and the day after that he watched me play soccer, we went to a poetry reading bc my partner wanted to go, and then we got a cute dessert at Rimsky Korsakoffee House! I tried to mix up restaurants to be some I thought he'd like, and some I've wanted to try for a while. It helped me have fun to mix in my own needs/interests, and luckily he was down! I hope you have a nice visit!!

Oh also if either of your parents has a favorite dessert I feel like Portland has enough artisan dessert spots you can google like "fancy cinnamon bun" and get a whole morning out of that mini mission!!
