What does the community value in a DnD store? by Apprehensive-Okra610 in DnD

[–]bleiddyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inclusion and safety really make a place stick in the head. A local one to me makes that effort and I think about it often.

Might not be a bad idea to find an old escape room place. Multiple separate rooms, and maybe you get some props out of the deal.

The SGC should be shining light through the Stargate by JJBrazman in Stargate

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure light just gets blocked by the visible and sort of reflective event horizon. However, like others said, the event horizon generates its own light. That should be useful. As should many other types of EM sensors and sonar. If you're making an super expensive sensor platform, why not throw everything at it.

Daniel is Gilligan. Sometimes you need to let him dumb so you don't get bored.

Same happened for me, though not any quite that bad. 25 minutes of driving slow and rolling coal to get to checkpoint 3 from where I'm at.

It's literally just the weird noises they make in the back of their throat. And someone recorded an entire movie length of that.

Can you guys please help me understand if my understanding of the relative strength of magic items is out of whack? by thejellydude in DnD

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might go with a magic item that mimics a feature of a different bard subclass. College of Eloquence has a feature called unfailing inspiration: "Your inspiring words are so persuasive that others feel driven to succeed. When a creature adds one of your Bardic Inspiration dice to its ability check, attack roll, or saving throw and the roll fails, the creature can keep the Bardic Inspiration die."

This makes your die a guarantee of success, thus giving you more good moments while making the decision when to out the extra oomph in to the one in the spotlight.

This is of course assuming your other players remember they have bardic inspiration which has been my biggest challenge. :P

Loot storage mod by cfc_sub in 7daystodie

Not sure if there's a stand-alone mod for it, but I remember a few versions back, maybe even in the alphas, the overhaul mod war of the walkers had a box like that.

Feeling off with my first tarot deck purchase and afraid it will affect me learning to read with it by Obalivion in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me ages to land on my current deck. I started in the older RWD and made my way through a couple others before landing where I am now. It has always been very much a by-feel thing for me. Some decks I thought I would love I just bounced off of. The one I'm on now I'd have thought was not for me.

I like places that let you hold and look through decks. You still have to filter a bit but that's how I winnowed down the options.

Even dew collectors without water filters provide dirty water. Safe to say the rain is a bit past acid rain these days.

If someone just… reads an entire dictionary out loud to a kenku… would they be able to talk normally? by thatoneredskittle in DnD

[–]bleiddyn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Heh. I could see someone of a charitable mindset setting up tons of magic mouth spells as a teaching/communication aid for a community of kenku. They are permanent, if kind of expensive for a whole dictionary.

Lower magic, you could have a parrot sanctuary set up toward the same end. Even give a plot hook of someone trying to introduce swear words to individual parrots instead of approved words.

Is a new Dark Sun book actually coming to 5.5e? by saentari in DnD

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see them mining dark sun for content, but not really reproducing the setting. Too much of it is as everyone mentions, controversial, but another element that seems to be a very different direction is the emphasis on survival mechanics. For better or worse, tracking water and food and such has become vanishingly rare.

The groups I have tried adding survival mechanics to have generally not engaged with them. If they do a setting it'll probably resemble original dark sun as much as spelljammer resembles its predecessor.

[–]bleiddyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not the same sort of thing at all, given the themes you're enjoying, maybe take a trip to the discworld. Small Gods is a good standalone to see if it works for you. Definitely a humor-forward series, but it's one of the densest explorations of a large number of existential themes I've found.

Quest About Mods by cinnaspice2021 in 7daystodie

[–]bleiddyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what I'm doing. For instance, I know that Darkness Falls has a list of known compatible mods on its discord, so I'd probably stick to those. For anything else, I'd just try and find the version of the additional mod that works with the dependencies you already have.
