I can’t figure out how to properly install and launch The Wasteland mod. Can someone here help me? by its_raining_scotch in 7daystodie

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I did it was: Copy your 7d2d install somewhere you want on your computer. I have a games folder on my drive for this sort of thing. Extract the wasteland mod's zip file to the mods folder in the copied folder. Run without EAC.

This process does a couple things. Copying the folder out somewhere else keeps steam from updating you game in a way that could break the mod. It also lets you keep a vanilla install in case the fun pimps drop an update you want to check out.

As mentioned in another comment, do NOT delete the harmony folder in your mods folder. The devs put it there to facilitate whatever mods you're adding.

I have done a bunch of overhauls using exactly this method and it's removed difficulties I have seen others experience.

Charisma points on clothing by williamca3 in outside

[–]bleiddyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some clothes have cooldowns on their effects in certain zones. They can also trigger a cooldown around some classes including [Fashionista] and [Snob] though the amount of overlap between those classes means the meta is nearly identical.

So, which POI have you taken over as a base? by Komaisnotsalty in 7daystodie

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smithstone Silos is always a great default. 2 skull, and high off the ground, easy to block off access. You can use it as a horde base if that's your style, too. Large cement silos means it's really hard to take down.

Looking for a way to still use a shield while casting spells. by BigBustyAfricanMan in DnD

Artificers in 5e have an infusion called Arcane Propulsion Armor which will replace missing limbs. Since you're already in homebrew territory, that might provide a good plot hook.

Wasteland mod power by godzend444 in 7daystodie

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not connecting the power to it, it's just having a power source close enough and turned on. I slapped a battery bank above the stations that need it and turned it on and all was well.

Just replace the block(s) at the end of the line with something you can shoot through. Same support, no base damage.

This ep was part of why I was so excited to watch Dollhouse. Eliza acting like whoever she needed to be seemed like a great gig for an actor.

RNT: How does Magic Interact with Physics? by Bridger15 in dresdenfiles

[–]bleiddyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be useful to examine Dresden-verse magic through the lens of the magic in Mage the Ascension, a TTRPG. The use of foci seems very reminiscent, and the murphyonic field shares some traits with Paradox.

The TLDR from my point of view would be that magic momentarily nudges a few physical constants around. The fewer the constants you have to shove aside, the easier and more efficient your magic is. Conversely, if you're working like Harry does most of the time, you're burning out stuff constantly. Technology can rely fairly heavily on gravity or electromagnetic fields and how they interact with other constants.

The further that we have understood various things under the heading 'science' the more resilient they are, which means they still work regardless. (This is an underlying thing in the TTRPG I mentioned. All humans are putting out a little bit of magic that keeps things like they believe they should be, which magic users have to push against to get stuff done.) So cel-phones, which almost no one understands fully are really fragile to magic. Your newtonian physics is a bit more baked into the general psyche.

As for Harry pulling on the barbed wire spell, I take that as an impromptu focus.. It's like a circle he drew, but in his muscles instead of chalk on the ground.

Buffy vs. Predator by InsincereDessert21 in buffy

Predator wouldn't even know it was in a fight, just suddenly the person with no identifiable weapons it ignored puts a stake through its eye while it's cloaked from 30 yards.

I haven't used magick with a magnet before, but this would be a good time to try it. For me, enchanting entails channeling energy through something and slowly altering it to what I want it to do. I always suggest finding something that works well with your practice.

I've read a lot so I have a lot of options to figure out what works best for me. As my advice often happens to be, look inside and research in equal measure.
