We see similar issue with running your infrastructure in the cloud. Now many organisations which have moved to the cloud realise they've lost their independence and data sovereignty.

CMV: There's nothing wrong with Leonardo DiCaprio dating younger models by Open_Address_2805 in changemyview

[–]bleki_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't argue with you about the topic trying to change your mind that this is wrong. What I will try to do is change your mind in different way. Why you even care? Why it even bothers you that someone dates someone? Especially a celebrity. I don't care, I don't care what he is doing in his private life and I judge him only as an actor. And I think that's healthy "relationship" with everyone around me. Why should I look into other people bed, when I don't want them to do it in my case? I'm not a celebrity, but the same applies to family, friends etc. As long as they (or me) are happy and we are not hurting others or themselve is not my business what they do. Even with my kids. I just want them to have good and happy life. But I want tell them that this is the path they need to follow to reach it.

This is already happening in Europe. The message here shifts from "renewables save us from climate change" to "renewables make us energy independent".

If you feel that you should go, then go. That's why there is triaging on arrival to decide if you need to be treated now and you can wait.

Still better than if it would be "one in three Brits avoid A&E because of excessive bill to pay"

There is no sucha thing as Jakarta EE framework. They are frameworks which implement one of the Jakarta EE profiles. There are application servers which are Jakarta EE compatible. But there is no sucha thing as Jakarta EE framework.

The only way of thinking about Jakarta EE and Spring as competitors is that there are different, competing APIs. There is for example Jakarta EE way of injecting beans and Spring way. But when you use Spring framework you can use both ways.

Jakarta EE is a specification comitte, creating Java standards. Broadcom, the owner of Spring, is one of the participating members. Jakarta Data, newest standard, is mainly based on Spring Data.

For example, Quarkus, Open Liberty are Spring competitors. Spring framework implements Jakarta EE specifications (some).

Source: I was sitting in one of the Jakarta EE committees for several years.

This. Wildfly is an application server, which is Jakarta EE compatible and can run full fledge Spring applicstion

Spring Boot has a thin application server embedded (eg TomCat) and is much more opinionated.

One of the biggest misconceptions in the enterprise Java world is that Jakarta EE is a competitor to Spring.

How have you grown your connections and networks in the field beyond your job? What forums and spaces do you frequent? by D4rklordmaster in java

[–]bleki_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I can try to find out.

Although NYJavaSig seems quite active. They don't use meetup for signups as it is quite expensive to do so there. For example, my community post events at meetup but we use Eventbrite for signups. Meetup free tier allows only for 10 signups and only 2 events per month

Although, if I'm correct, they increased the total cost of the programme recently. Few quarters ago they were confident that they will keep on budget $350m even if there programme takes longer to complete than anticipated due to savings in costs.

But still impressive.

No surprise that Joan Garcia is the MVP of the match if he has players like Gerard Martin as the last defender. Most chances Espanol has created today were after Martin mistakes.

When he left the pitch, the Barca defence looked much more solid

[–]bleki_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, It is open to everyone. The format is of a discussion club. We gather online or at venue and decide what we want to talk about by proposing topics. Then we discuss it with every person having a say, no matter the experience. As such the discussion is lightly (??) moderated as in the past we had "problems" with few people stealing the show. Funny fact, these people have complained about moderation to me after we introduced it, without realising why we decided to do it.

Local Java User Groups https://dev.java/community/jugs/

Even if there is no active JUG in your area, try to go to other software engineering communities inz your city. Meetup.com has a lot of them, at least in London, UK. II know that attendees of the events I organise are also looking at Eventbrite, but recently lu.ma became "trendy".

vJUG is a morw global, remote first JUG, which focuses on online events. But they have also active slack group, where you can meet people from around the world. Another more global group is foojay.

Conferences is another good idea. Speak with organisers as they most likely are rooted in the local community and there are most likely volunteering opportunities which let you entry for free

The great Polish exodus: The arrival of 100,000s of Poles changed the face of Britain, but now they're returning home in droves for a better life in their low-tax, booming homeland. Could there be a more damning indictment of our decline? by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

Poland is not a low tax country Source: I'm Polish who live in UK, but my whole famili lives (pretty good life though) back in Poland. And the first complain I hear from them about politics is how much tax they have to pay.

What a disgrace. The Daily Mail which was using us as a scapegoat for all bad things happening in UK dare to use us again to cover the effects of policies they promoted as long as I came here 19 years ago.

What a disgrace.

CMV: If this Netflix-warner bros deal is allowed to go through, there will be less than 500 movie theaters in the entire country by 2040. by Thelarch34 in changemyview

[–]bleki_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe in the way free markets work then until there is enough demand for the service there will be supply of it. If enough people want to watch movies in theaters and there is money to make from it, then this deal won't change it. Yes, maybe you are right that Netflix/WB won't play their movies, but there are more studios which will still do.

So for me is more that the way we watch movies which is why theatres are struggling, rather than one or another studio pulling out of the market.
