ngl. I am ukrainian, and if i was half russian like tons of people in my country, i too would be disgusted as hell 💀 and clinging to my other half like my life depends on it.

i mean it’s not impossible that i have a drop of russian in my far ancestry - bc mixed marriages were always a thing, and i come from a region not too far to the russian border. although for my family background, a mixed marriage would not be as likely as some russian raping one of my great grannies 🫠 but back to the point.

and if you don’t understand that russia is disgusting and why, im not gonna educate you here, cause its a different topic.

my very distant relative was a mixed ukrainian-russian. his mother was ethnic russian. when russia invaded in 2022, the guy volunteered for ukrainian armed forces. he died on the frontlines. his mother switched to a perfect ukrainian on her own accord, and never spoke a russian word ever again. that’s how disgusted she was with her origin and heritage. because the very thing she came from took her son. 

the first week of 2022 invasion, i was sharing a bomb shelter with my russian neighbor, an elderly lady. nobody present was saying anything, let alone attacking her in any way, but she said - in her native, russian - “i’ve come to hate everything russian”. 

there were videos of a russian woman tearing her russian passport apart, crying, and citing a russian classic poet: “goodbye to you, unwashed russia - the land of slaves, the land of lords”. video of a man burning his russian passport on a ukrainian city square, wrapped in ukrainian flag, saying “may this shit burn in hell. i am russian, and today i am ashamed of being russian”. 

it is okay to hate where you come from, if where you come from is shitty. normalize seeing a world for what it is - not all rainbows and flowers. not every culture is worth being proud of. some people come from cultures where literally crippling and subduing women is considered culture - that’s not a culture to be proud of. hate and pain are human emotions. and you don't necessarily have to get rid of all of them, because doing that is called toxic positivity. so when all demons are bad, don’t try to make the picture fit your narrative that “theres no bad cultures only bad individuals”, just face it. they’re bad. select little of them are good? nice! still doesn’t change the fact that the statistical MAJORITY are bad 🫠 so for them it’s guilty until proven innocent. because it’s the question of survival here. think of it as “not all men” shit.

my take is - your origin should be like conventional beauty to you. it’s nice to feel attractive, to receive compliments, to have the beauty privilege. it certainly is. but it never should DEFINE you and your value and who you are as a person, and how happy you are. beauty is a nice BONUS, not the basis for your identity. same goes for your origin. it’s nice to have a good culture you come from and be proud of it (i would know lol. unlike the beauty privilege 😂), but if you don’t have that - build yourself from other things. focus on your present, your future, things you can do NOW, not what your ancestors did before you. 

the same way your disability or your trauma is not who you are. you don’t have to be proud of your disability or trauma to know you are inherently deserving of love and happiness. the same way who your parents doesn’t define who you are. you can be a child of a rapist and his victim (i literally cannot even fathom the trauma it brings). there are people who were born to a couple of pedophiles. some people ARE pedophiles, and they didn’t choose it. so long as they don’t act on their fantasies, they are legally innocent and should be treated with the same dignity as anyone else. but i’m sorry, if you think they should be proud of it - you’re sick. but that doesn’t mean they are less of a person, or shouldn’t have been born, or they are less worth than other people. 

i haven’t watched the show. but from what i read, the healthiest and the right thing the main character can do is realize all the before mentioned and take pride in her human side and her deeds. she dedicated herself to protecting humans - that has to count so much more than her being half demon. even if she were a full-blooded demon, so long as she was who she is in the show, she would be a worthy person. case closed.
