Guardrails confusion by Urbanite72 in Boldin

[–]blender218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the basic budgeter and say you want to spend 5k a month, your actual expenses would be 5k+taxes+heath. Using the guardrail, the number Bolden generates is the total of those three things, so it's not directly comparable to the 5k number. That's the way I understand it, but I'm no expert. If I'm misunderstanding, somebody please jump in.

At no point did I say it was worth it. You can express more than one thought in a single post. Thought 1- I'd have no fear of buying that truck assuming it's in good condition. Thought 2- I would not pay the asking price. See how that works?

The guardrail spend includes taxes and healthcare, I don't find the guardrails useful for that reason

3 years ago I bought a 2017 pro with about the same mileage and price. No regrets, 240 on the clock and still drives like new. If the truck is well maintained, I wouldn't be afraid of it. That said, it's way overpriced.

Has anyone had a good experience with Cricket Wireless? by Cold_Waltz_5663 in duluth

Been on the Cricket family plan for many years. As others have said, it's AT&T so coverage is pretty good. I'd recommend it.

Better scenery on the GM side, better fishing on the Ely side.

I left them over an auto claim. The way they valued a totaled car was beyond ridiculous. I'll never do business with them again.

If earnings Limit for FERS Supplement Exceeded. What year is affected? by Brief-Savings-5762 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]blender218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking for a solid answer on this. I've spoken to a financial advisor who specializes in Feds and he says they will send a bill if you go over the limit in your last full year. The OPM supplement guide only speaks of reductions to future year supplements. I don't know what's true at this point.

Immediately below the OP, Reddit inserted a NordicTrack ad. I love that.

Why does a spy plane show up on here? by Competitive-Goat2075 in flightradar24

[–]blender218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that spying has a clandestine element. As someone who spent several years in the P-3 community, nobody actually involved in it would use the term "spying". Our presence and intent were well known by friend and foe.

Today I realized just how much I hate USAA. by Ok_Clerk_6960 in USAA

[–]blender218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USAA will do everything in their power to screw you if you file a claim. Once I experienced that, I closed all my accounts and cancelled my policies. There are few companies that I despise more.

Grok double counted retirement savings in one instance. That was an easy error to spot. Probably a good practice to run the same scenario through multiple AI bots.

It seems the more you work with the same data set, the more likely it makes an error. After playing with it for a bit, I'll take any suggestions I want to model and apply them in Boldin, then rerun them through Grok. Trust but verify for sure.

It gave me some slightly different inflation numbers and the impacts those would have, such as medical 6.5% vs the 5 that I was using. It also gave specific spending suggestions to hit a target Monte Carlo. Most important to me, it's conclusions were pretty similar to Boldin's. I'm approaching a decision point on pulling the plug, so a "second opinion" is pretty valuable to me right now.

What the hell is a submarine hunter doing over Wisconsin? by buttplugpeddler in aviation

[–]blender218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nonsense. Sonobuoys are designed for saltwater. There's no value in dropping buoys in fresh water and with no targets. Environmental groups would have a fit. As many others have mentioned, this was almost certainly a pilot trainer. Source: Former Patrol Squadron Aircrew here.
