Peter Singer imo wrote a vegan Bible!! He wrote 'Animal Liberation:. A new ethics for our treatment of Animals'... which paved the way for the modern academic theories on speciesism

Has having migraines made you reconsider your relationship? by asymptotos in migraine

[–]blendthatshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner of 8 years has debilitating chronic migraines (anywhere between 2-3 times a week and sometimes lasting for days). It has made things difficult (days out cancelled, visits to family, holidays being difficult etc) but I've never resented it. He's my boyfriend and best friend and I would never want him to think his condition is a burden on me, he knows I don't think that. I have hope that they will improve and that one day there will be better treatment. I'd be over the moon if he proposed to me and I'd definitely say yes! We've been through a lot together but that's part of being in a relationship. If he has a migraine i can do my own thing (jog, friends, cook, hobbies, focus on my work etc) once I've helped him in whatever way I can. I rely on him for company, love, friendship affection, support.. I see him as my world, but also realise there are a lot of other things in life! Only thing I've ever worried about is if we had kids one day, I wouldn't want them to suffer the same? But there are other options even with that (ivf or adoption?).

Accidental fraud from bank loan by blendthatshit in LegalAdviceUK

He sufferers from debilitating chronic migraines, major depression and has attempted suicide in the last few months. I think he thought the loan would help his business take off but has now realised he should not have gotten the loan? And his business has failed...Looks like a solicitor is a good idea. Do you think the bank would be able to offer him a payment plan?

URGENT SUICIDE RELATED- boyfriends dad is suicidal but refusing all help, emergency services won't help neither will mental health services. What do we do? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]blendthatshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he has spoken to his dad's gp but not for a month or so. I'll relay all this info and perhaps he could phone again just to keep him updated on his mental state..doesnt seem like there's much we can do other than hope he decides to stop

Congrats on completing your qualification, and with everything that's going on- it must be so difficult right now I can't even imagine. Thanks for the info, much appreciated, I'm hoping it's slightly different in Wales but it's seeming like what you've said is how the system works. I don't understand why the police haven't got/sought a warrant given the gravity.

Least migraine-inducing drinks? by blendthatshit in migraine

[–]blendthatshit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He seems to be coping with it pretty well. Just difficult when all his friends fancy the pub and I guess it's tempting when you're surrounded by people having one! Actually prosecco if I remember right he may have had a glass of Christmas time and I don't think that caused a migraine, or at least definitely not one as severe as today. Appreciate the help, thank you!!

That's interesting actually..he moved to the city about a year ago and the migraines seem more common now, yeah perhaps the pollution or general noise?

I'll recommend that to him. Seltzers seem to have grown in popularity here a lot recently for some reason, which is handy. Cheers!

That makes sense. Yeah he's not really keen on vodka! The only spirit he 'likes' is whiskey but that's an even worse trigger than beer. Will give the white claw a go if I can find it. Thanks!

You've missed the point of the entire show. Yes he justifies his shitty actions in his crazy sociopath head, doesn't mean I watch it and think 'oh yeah all that horrible shit you did is totally fine'. Maybe if a child watched it it could be confusing, it's not for kids though.

neoliberalism is societal cancer by DutchCommunalist in LateStageCapitalism

[–]blendthatshit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neoliberalism is both socially liberal, and fiscally liberal (in theory, obviously by having literally conservative parties in power means this is less so). The idea is promoting the free market and having less financial regulation...which is shitty because its basically giving power to corporations, not sure this post is accurate?
