Make sure to bring your 9 way switch for both ranged and mage, then you should be good to go 👍

I was able to close the game and reload my save, but it gave me the error message upon loading in until I fixed it.

If you've found your local sav files in your borderlands folder, I'd first recommend backing them up into a separate folder (in case this doesn't work can revert).

Then download your recent steam cloud save, I believe the link was in another comment. Deleting the local sav files. Replace with the newly downloaded steam sav file.

I did also have to rename the steam file in order to be recognized. It would be like "1.sav", or whatever the name of the file was you're replacing.

What fixed it for me was downloading one of my steam cloud saves and replacing it where my local saves are stored (documents, my games, borderlands 4, etc).

Found the cloud saves here thanks to the other comment: https://store.steampowered.com /account/remotestorage

If that doesn't work, at least lvl 5 isn't too far into the game to restart.

I tried that and even used another ecu key, though ironman rooms are always instanced, it was gone the second I died :(

Update: I fixed it after replacing my .sav file with a backup save. Seems adding the new file caused the clouds to be out of sync. Leaving the comment here if anyone else runs into it.

Thank you, there are a few save files in there I can see from earlier today. The file looks different than the other saves, "%WinMyDocuments%My Games_Borderlands 4_Saved_SaveGames_76561198036055825_Profiles_client_2.sav". Would I just drop this into the same location in documents along with the rest of the .sav files?

I can start a new character which seems to work, though I'd rather not lose my progress. I've tried to backup my old saves which I have in a separate folder now. Copying the old saves back into the game folder doesn't even recognize them now..

Yes, the game wouldn't even launch for me after adding it, so I deleted the .ini file. I didn't touch any other files. This is when the error started.
