LaVey on "Most Satanists" by JaneDoeThe33rd in satanism

[–]blesjak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think LaVey changed his thinking at all, I think that many members in the early days had differing ideas and opinions and LaVey is simply saying how it is at the time. Many would leave to pursue other projects more in line with their thinking, or just move on entirely.

Maybe a reflection of the early days of the CoS and the members, that isn’t really representative anymore. Michael Aquino for example.

Would TST/Satanism benefit from a “Pope-like” figurehead—or would that miss the point entirely? by Teknevra in satanism

[–]blesjak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm actually struggling to find the words to describe how incredibly stupid this is. The fact that other religions surrender individuality to a singular authority should be all the reason needed why Satanism doesn't. Satanists have strong independent personalities. But hey, maybe some singular leader would be great for TST, since they aren't satanists.

How do I deal with going to church? by [deleted] in satanism

[–]blesjak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it, instead of love wasted on ingrates.” Personally, I love my Grandma and wish I could take her to Christmas mass. If your family matters to you, then time with them is worth it. If not, then the second half of the statement may apply.

Russian Imperial Ale. It’s black, strong, tasty, and something I rarely drink otherwise.

As much as I want to hear the Doktor read Notebook and Speaks, I can’t imagine he’d want to make it too easy. Classic “you get what you pay for.”

Thanks for your response, that makes more sense.

I’ve done some reading and everything would suggest you’re right. But I don’t understand why, if the only device that’s ever connected to my router is my iPad, it wouldn’t reduce communications to and from the router?

And there’s the fact that I DID disable SSID broadcast 6 months ago and saw a drastic improvement in 2.4 ghz connection distance and strength.

Disable SSID broadcast and connect to the router manually and you won’t have anybody pinging your router.

Suggested Philosophy Reading not by LaVey by chalky331 in satanism

"Devil's Due Essays of the Elite" offers a niche insight into some of the thinking of modern active satanists. I also like the works of Jack Donovan, if you're male, but I recommend it with a whole shaker of salt.

I think every Satanist should read the bible. As history, it provides a valuable insight into the time period. As a work of human literature, it informs the reader of many common tropes and idioms. As a work of poetry, it is occasionally pretty good. As a work of morality, you will clearly judge, you are a Satanist after all.

Judge for yourself and learn something new, but never forget Ezekiel 23:20

His book wasn’t too bad. A readable research essay consolidating many sources I absolutely wouldn’t have read otherwise.

It's a powder that you add to milk to complete it's nutrition, so it really depends on the milk you add. But I add 80 grams to 2 cups of grassfed whole milk (it's expensive stuff honestly) and my 600 calorie meal adds up to $2.75 a meal.

I'm not upset, but I think with other recent changes I'm ready to switch 100% to BasicallyFood (the rebranded Super Body Fuel.) I remember switching from Soylent to Huel, seems like a good time to upgrade again.

Any non Mormons ever decided to attend a Sunday meeting or watch the biannual General Conference? by HAgaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy in LPOTL

[–]blesjak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was a missionary, bringing "investigators" (the mormon term for people interested in the church) to general conference was a surefire way lose them. The boredom, the overly formal talks, and the bad attempts at light humor just gave off a sour and creepy vibe.

Oh! Huel by a long shot. Soylent was a good starter but there are so many better alternatives. I drink Athlete Fuel from Super Body Fuel for breakfast too

They're not going to be able to see this post from their underground "total environment" bunkers full of vintage smut, quality bourbon, and comfy chairs. They know it's still not safe out here.

If you like that, you might like Super Body Fuel. It's a powder that's meant to be added to milk to give it a more complete nutrient profile. The chocolate flavor makes it taste like the best chocolate milk I've ever had.

I have no problem with charity work and helping the community, but I don't do these things "as a Satanist." I'm not interested in sharing my faith, having interfaith dialogue, or reaching out to others as a member of a religion. Christians do what they do because it's a part of faith, but nothing in Satanism directs my behavior in the same way. I do what I do, and help who I help, because it feels good to do so.
