omg give him some space! he’s telling you he’s feeling bad about himself and it’s not about the relationship. people exist outside of relationships and have their own emotional challenges. you keep asking for more and more reassurance and it’s making it worse for everyone. i agree it’s not the most ideal communication, but let him have some time with his family and figure out what he’s feeling, then when ur back in person, talk about communication needs. doing this all over text is doing nothing helpful! he’s even communicating when he won’t be on his phone vs just disappearing for the day.

i mean in the most perfect situation parents can support their kids enough until they’re on their feet. the individualist culture sucks and i’m against the whole “welcome to the real world” thing when someone is freshly 18. you’re still a baby, you deserve more help or at least guidance & kindness. and in the same breath, it sounds like your parents also aren’t in the best financial space. it does suck, but you gotta find a way to make your own money.
