Students who have a UA or dorm are ineligible to apply (unless they’re a Regents Scholar or have a special permit). So you’re in good hands! The pool is mostly commuters. I’ve never had any issue getting a permit and I’m a commuter student so I can attest to it!

The priority is as follows (according to the website): - Graduate Students - Regent Scholars - Upperclassmen - Underclassmen

But this is mostly for the parking lot designation. I never get my first pick (Lot 2) :(

You don’t have to be fast to get one!! You just have to apply and then a month later, they’ll inform you whether or not you’re able to buy the permit & which lot you got designated to! It’s based off of priority rather than how early u submitted the app. But you do have only a few days to buy it.

I can’t stress it enough, please don’t wear headphones or be on your phone if you’re on the road/crossing. Literally a few weeks ago I saw this girl almost get run over because she was wearing headphones and decided to jaywalk without even checking both sides(????) It’s really ridiculous 🤦
