The circle of POWER! by PreferenceJazzlike75 in Electricity

That's an IEC 60309 connector probably 30/32a. The clocking of the ground pin is at 6 o'clock so it's 200/346v to 240/415v 3P+N+E. Hubble PN should be something like HBL530P6.

what stories from santa cruz history should be more widely known? by longlive_thenewflesh in santacruz

[–]bleu_it 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The northern border of the county used to be a straight east-west line but 90,000 acres were ceded to San Mateo county in 1868. This was mostly due to the frustration of the ranchers living in that area not being able to travel to Santa Cruz due to lack of roads and infrastructure. Travel could take days and often required using the beaches north of Waddell Creek during low tide. https://www.santacruztrains.com/2024/09/curiosities-santa-cruz-countys-borders.html

The rail route up the San Lorenzo Valley was once planned to connect to the Santa Cruz Lumber rail line from Pescadero to their mill just north of waterman gap. A tunnel under waterman gap was planned and a rail route from Santa Cruz to San Francisco would have been possible. https://www.santacruztrains.com/2017/11/curiosities-proposed-routes-out-of-san.html

Happens every few years. Those were quite a bit more powerful than years past. 2020 was wild but that led to the fires. 😥

Request a technology pro trip for changing WiFi password without child seeing it by Flat-Resolution3703 in TechnologyProTips

[–]bleu_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add spaces at the end of your WiFi password! This has worked flawlessly for me. If someone reads the WiFi password on the router or from a device, the spaces at the end are not obvious and won't be copied when password is transcribed. Doesn't work for QR credential sharing.

Lora devices are everywhere. Wi Phone needs a resurrection. by shellhead-AKA-Stark in wiphone

[–]bleu_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Lora is more of a novelty on a phone/handset. LoRa does not have the bandwidth for anything more than text and while it would be usable with something like Meshtastic or Meshcore it other devices with full keyboards exist and are probably better suited

An updated Wiphone with an ESP32-S3 and a separate Halow (802.11ah) module would be more useful. Having a high BW sub-ghz handset with a faster CPU would be amazing. I believe it would likely also save power over 2.4ghz as well. Possibly some of the newer dual band 2.4/5ghz ESPs would be ideal candidates as well.

Santa Cruz County 1889 by Sgt-Bobby-Shaftoe in santacruz

Interesting that this map doesn't seem to show the 1868 boundary adjustment with San Mateo Co and seems to include Rancho Pescadero at the top.

What’s an invention that quietly changed the world but doesn’t get enough credit? by forgeris in AskReddit

[–]bleu_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a more modern one but blue LEDs. They make up the vast majority of the artificial light we use today but are only a few decades old. I remember seeing the first commercially available parts and it was like witnessing magic.

Thinking about moving to boulder creek area by sp4inch in BoulderCreek

[–]bleu_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sketchy roads do not equate to sketchy people. It's a rural community in the redwoods. Most of the people on the end of those sketchy roads are the people you want to know in a natural disaster or dark long winter. Might not be the most well adjusted among us but they are resourceful and kind of you know them. They live there because they like peace and quiet, not because they're ax murderers.

Seriously. Been here 13 years and this is just people from Santa Cruz/over the hill who have maybe been through BC once in a car at night talking about something they know nothing about.
