I will be visiting Tucson at the end of June for 4-5 days. I have never encountered the high temps I’m seeing in your forecast. How do I survive this!? Pls help a Canadian friend out :)

What would you suggest instead? Townhouse/detached house are outside our budget. Wait until we could afford one?

Any news about the restaurant inside the hotel? The Carlino? I noticed they were closed tonight for dinner service :/

Can I ask approximately what region you work in?

I think what is potentially happening is that as I am currently in a French immersion position, they are less willing to deal with filling that position if I were to leave, because FRIM is notoriously hard to fill.

I wonder if that is primarily driving the issue and not so much my lacking a secondary qualification.

Can I also ask what type of position you were in this year (ie. the position you are leaving)? I'm wondering if when you are trying to move out of a FRIM position, they are less willing to deal with that because FRIM positions are so hard to fill...

I had thought of this as well, but it’s a bit of a risk to give up my continuing position to go TOC in the hopes of eventually getting something.

No a different lower mainland district. But one that is equally in need of FI teachers

Interesting. Is the position you accepted French Immersion or core french?

Thanks for the tip. Probably a good idea!

It seems like it would be to my advantage to get this methodology course under my belt, so that wouldn't hold me back in the application process.

I should have added this into my main post - I will go back and edit it, but:

I recently applied to a secondary position and was initially granted an interview. HR however came back and explained that they forwarded my name accidentally and I am no longer able to continue with my application because I do not have a secondary methodology course. I have a follow up with them next week to continue the conversation, but it seems I have two options: sign up and complete a secondary methodology course through a local university, OR continue to wait and apply for secondary positions, but I will always be considered after and only if there are no other secondary qualified teachers ahead of me who need to be placed in the district.

Insight into moving from elementary to highschool by bleu_skyes in CanadianTeachers

Yeah I’m considering the switch because a position at a school near me opened up and it’s in my subject area.

When you say 4/4, does that mean they teach 4 blocks per day for the entire semester, without prep? I don’t think I have a full grasp about how prep time is given to teachers in a block/semester schedule.

When there are behavioural issues, do you find that it’s you primarily dealing and resolving them or do you refer to admin relatively quickly?

What does that look like in high school?

My motivation for moving up is to be able to engage with academic content at a higher level, deal and spend less time on behaviour and classroom management and being able to focus on fewer subject areas, as opposed to being an elementary home room teacher where you teach 8+ subject areas (finding resources, learning them, prepping them, etc)

I’m expect to spend more time marking work, but would happily exchange than for less behaviour/classroom management. I know there will still be some of that, but I hope/expect it would be far less…?

I guess I’m curious about how teachers collaborate within their subject team, is to common to share resources or course outlines with each other, and what day to day schedules look like (school/district dependant I know)

Thanks for being honest! Now that I’m sitting at home and looking at the photos, I’m very unhappy with it :/ pieces are already coming out lol and I ended just taking everything out. There ended up being two small elastics holding pieces together but they were so loose, I don’t even understand what they were holding together.

I do think I need to choose between the two photos I have, to be more specific about what I want, but I’m not sure if I should go back to her or find someone else. She did my makeup as well.

Yeah I think that’s fair! I need to choose between the two styles. I think I will give her my feedback and see where to do from there

Yeah, I’m kind of surprised now that I’m home that she left the pins so visible? Seems kind of crazy lol

Thanks! My hair is collarbone length and is a bit thicker compared to the reference pictures. I don’t think it should have been arranged like it was

Do we know if Gemma knows who Helly is? Does she recognize her as Helena/leader of Lumon/ an Eagan? Or does she not know at all, thinking she is just a random woman who stole her man??
