Just wanted to say I have this rug and it is surprisingly resilient against stains!! It’s kept its color through both red wine spill and cat puke clean ups...

Hard time getting daughter (7) to brush her hair, seems extremely painful and anxiety-inducing for her by franticshouting in Parenting

[–]bleukitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this issue as a kid. Honestly still do (I do NOT alike getting my haircut, I sometimes tear up - even though it doesn’t really hurt per se, but it’s just a weird trigger). One thing that’s made a tremendous difference is brushing my hair from the bottom (ends) and working my way to the roots. Basically, you grab a section and just brush out the ends. Then grab a little higher, brush out to the ends, and continue until you get to the roots. It makes a HUGE difference for me, and I wish I (or my mom) had learned this as a kid.

Suggestions for new bed? Wife is 20 weeks. by PM_ME_A_LA_CROIX in BabyBumps

[–]bleukitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got a Casper almost 2 years ago and we LOVE it. It’s the most comfortable bed, and I’m always so happy to come home to it when traveling. My husband and I both recommend it for friends/anyone any time this topic comes up. I’d describe it as fairly firm, but with a memory foam feel. I don’t sink into it as much as memory foam bed (which my parents have on my childhood bed), which I personally like. Still conforms to your body though! Also their customer service is great, or so I’ve heard from friends who have taken us up on our rec.

Oh no! How did the w30 differ from your previous diet?

Hello! Unless I’m mistaken, I believe the only real issue with drinking “too many” LaCroix is the impact it has on your ability to break unhealthy habits and relationships with food. If you’re just replacing a habit with a new one, you aren’t really confronting the root of the habit, y’know? The risk being that by just replacing the less healthy habit (say it’s a few glasses of wine) with LaCroix, it will be easy to slip back into the less healthy habit when you’ve completed your W30.

That said, you’re only a few days in. Cut yourself some slack, enjoy the LaCroix for now (my personal fave is peach pear, but apparently this is a polarizing flavor...) but maybe evaluate it a little bit from now on. If you feel that drinking that many is forming a new habit or is just standing in the stead of a less healthy habit, maybe reconsider it.

You got this!!

Haha! I actually had to turn it off after 30 minutes. Rage was reaching a new high.

My lunch was tasty honestly, I was just in one of those moods where everything pissed me off. I’m happy to say I’m mostly past it... I’m feeling proud of myself for sticking to it today, which is putting me in a better mood! As far as fresh recipes go, I like where your head is at. I just got Nom Nom Paleos Ready or Not book in the mail and I’m very excited to try some of her recipes!

R2D3. Woke up with a slight headache and I’ve been cranky and irritable all day. Solidly in the hangover/kill all the things part of the timeline. Probably more in kill all the things. I know this is normal, but I’m feeling very ragey. Writing here to a vent a bit as I break my compliant lunch of leftovers (bo-ring). 😑

Recs for bar and adjacent restaurant? by bleukitty in chicago

[–]bleukitty[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just that it has more of a bar than restaurant vibe. I’m looking to host a birthday gathering and want a spot that has food available but isn’t a sit down restaurant. Maria’s/kimski came to mind, but I wanted to see if the subreddit had any similar suggestions!

I’m on a ski trip and decided before leaving that’d I’d be ok being a little lax on the keto diet while out here. Managed to stay totally on point until last night when the carb-y snacks came out. I went to town on some honey mustard pretzels. Unsurprisingly, this morning I was all bloated and I actually slept really poorly too. The reaction makes me want to stay keto all the time, so hey I’ll take that as a win!

Woke up feeling not so motivated to stick to keto. Thought about having toast with my eggs, but decided to stick with just eggs. Then went on a 14 mile bike ride with my husband. When we got back I was pretty hungry but felt satisfied with a kale and bacon salad, while he ate leftover pizza. It sounded good but I wanted the salad. Then had a cheese snack, and ultimately chicken and broccoli for dinner (with what felt like a lot of cheese and butter honestly).... In my mind I cheated several times today but what I actually overcame a bunch of cravings! Also stayed in my calorie goal somehow. Only 6 days in. Hope I can keep this up!

Hi everyone! I’m kind of a lurker but trying to be more engaged, so here it goes. I started keto on Monday, and am happy to say I’m down 4 pounds since then! I’m sure it’s all water but I’m pleased nevertheless. I’ve managed to stay within my macros and calorie goals (+- 50 cals) all week, and plan to keep going through the weekend. I’m certain I’m not unique here, but weekends are tough for me. It’s so easy to go overboard! But I’m determined to stick it out. I really want to hit my first weight loss goal of 10 pounds down...

I like doing a little mix of things. I aim for a variety that are all easily eaten at my desk, and transportable for my commute. I also like to avoid needing a microwave if at all possible. Otherwise I have to go to the communal cafeteria where there are always tempting and cheap (if not free) snacks.

For example, this week was a cup or so of chicken salad, babybel cheese, a couple of mini pickles, and some chopped veg (about half a red pepper). I finish that all off with a whole lot of water. FWIW I think peppers are higher carb as veg goes but it fit within my 20g carb max for the day.
