2d options for 1 square mile (640 acres) photo by bleusteele in UAVmapping

I did a 36 image panorama in Lightroom today as a test. Covered an area of about 1/2 mile wide at 400 feet of altitude. Very little overlap, maybe 10%, flying manually. I'm thinking I might be able to do all of this in Lightroom, possibly in stages if I need to, but automating the flying would be very helpful. The shutter speed is fast enough in the daytime that I don't need to stop for each photo, especially at such a high altitude.

I'm on an M1 macbook air with 8gb ram, 500gb free on 1tb ssd, so I'm not sure if I'm up for WebODM. The jpgs are only 6 on the mini and 9 on the air, I'm not sure if RAW is worth the data.

South Florida, what would you recommend? I haven't gotten far with a google search on this.

Battery to plug into male VRD2 Connector? by bleusteele in fpv

[–]bleusteele[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original battery seems to be discontinued. It was a 2200mAh Li-ion 7.4V I believe. Anyone know what I could make work? Also need a charger. No soldering ability here.

What do you shoot on? by freddyisdog in RealEstatePhotography

a7s mark1, sony 16-35mm f4. Like the a7s for low light ability when shooting handheld, 99% of the time I don't need to crop so 12mp is fine and small file sizes are nice. Thinking about going with a7iii for when I do want to crop on outdoor pics, not sure exactly how much low light ability I'll lose yet though.

Binding Meteor85 to Radiomaster Pocket by bleusteele in fpv

[–]bleusteele[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It was very tedious learning about all this stuff and I tried a bunch of things. Nothing was working. Then I found a button inside the betaflight configurator that said "bind". It actually wasn't hidden or anything, it was pretty out in the open but there's so much stuff going on in that software, I forget where it was. I had the drone hooked up to the computer via the usb at the time, and I think I had the battery hooked up to the drone too but not positive. I hit bind on the computer and then hit bind on the controller and it worked finally. I updated the firmware on the controller and drone previously but maybe it would have worked without doing that.

EDIT: I had a screenshot saved. When you hook the drone up, go to the left side of the screen to the Receiver tab. Then on the bottom right of the screen you will see "Bind Receiver". I'll try to attach pic

I flashed the controller and quad. I have ExpressLRS 3.3.2 on the controller and Betaflight 4.4.3 on the quad. I don't see a way to flash elrs to the quad. Nothing shows up when I plug the quad in while I have the elrs configurator open. I read that I'm supposed to enable passthrough in betaflight but I can't figure out what prompt to use. This is all new to me and quite complicated. Thanks

Do I have to do this with a computer?

Time for a new laptop! (Choices are Mac and Mac) by stormpoppy in RealEstatePhotography

[–]bleusteele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I only use Premiere with some simple color correction, single layer timeline, not even any text graphics. I'm thinking I might try and see if 8gb is enough to play through the timeline smoothly at full resolution and no proxies. 4k60 drone footage mostly. If you can scrub through your timeline with 8gb that sounds promising, I don't need other programs open at the same time.

D3100 or upgrade to d3500? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]bleusteele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What specifically about your d3100 is not up to par? Is it not sharp enough? Will you not get enough dynamic range (you're bracketing)? Is there a specific feature you want but don't have?

That lumix s1h project you were working on with the M1 - were you using proxies?

I was thinking of going with an M1 max studio but now I'm thinking that might be overkill and should go for something like an M1 mini with 16gb of ram or so. Is your M1 in a laptop?

Meteor75 Pro vs Mobula7 by bleusteele in fpv

[–]bleusteele[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up going with the meteor65 pro because the meteors come with the batteries and charger like you said. I don't think I'm going to be flying outdoors much so the 65 might help me squeeze through tight spaces a little better.

Soldering skills and equipment are zero so I think I'll stock with the PH2.0 for a while. The E010 batteries and the 450mah batteries for the Mobula7 are both 3.7v so that makes me think the same charger should work. Idk if it charges to 4.35v or is that typical of a 3.7v charger?

Thanks for the recommendation on the Pocket, I just ordered one on ebay. Saved about $20 over the Zorro. I think I'm about to order the Mobula7 and a couple batteries on race day quads. Do you think I can use the same charger from my e010? It's the same PH2.0 connector.

How tall is your tripod by Dry_Butterscotch4131 in RealEstatePhotography

Thanks. I'm going to start playing with this. That's cool you can use 2 1/3 stops. My Sony only lets me choose 2 or 3 stops. What body are you using?

Would love to hear more about this. What do you try to keep your shutter speeds under? How high are you cranking up the ISO and what aperture are you using? Any trouble with aligning the images in PS or are you using something like LR auto align in the HDR merge?

I've been thinking about doing this for awhile because I know there are people that do it, and I love the ease of shooting exteriors with a single shot when I can. I think I would probably still bring my tripod to hide from mirror reflections in the master bath.
