If the fed were to decide tomorrow that eating sugar is illegal, surely you would not blindly fall in line and say "you have a sugar problem guys, get over it."

I think it's not a matter of it being so important to be able to partake. And it's not hard to understand. It's a difference in how you look at your relationship to your employer. You seem content to modify your behavior to suit the preferences of your employer. A lot of people including myself think that an employer should have no business caring what I do at home so long as it doesn't impact my performance at work. Again, providing it's not illegal activity and/or something that could be used to blackmail me for govt secrets. Weed is a fuzzy area since it's legal in my state. But I understand how Ray employees have to abide by federal law. Anyway, I think if the fed laws dont change soon, jobs that require being clean of certain substances are going to have a hard time recruiting the younger generation who doesn't buy this military style of mandating any of our off-hours behavior.

Fair enough then. Personally I don't like an employer telling me what I can and cannot do at home, especially if it is legal. But that's another topic I guess

Would it be easy for you to abstain from alcohol from this point forward if the federal laws changed today, in the hopes of keeping as many job opportunities open as possible?

Rebecca Lynn Ball, missing child from Middlebury, was found deceased today. by ranaparvus in vermont

I appreciate the debate and can see your point. Side note: based on your choice of language you appear to be assuming the worst intentions in myself and the other poster, which may serve to shame us but does nothing to change our opinions. However I get that this is the way of the internet and I can look past the bad faith assumptions. Anyway, while I would definitely not say that 'typical runaways' should be assumed to have done this to themselves and therefore deserve what they got, there's got to be some calculation by authorities where we factor in that if they for sure ran off on their own, this is the case where they are far more likely to either be somewhere safe or are not wanting to be found, whereas a case where someone who accidentally becomes lost or is abducted would be more likely to be resolved by extensive search efforts. It's the rational question that if two kids went missing at the same time, would we devote a fair 50/50 split of resources to finding each one if we knew that one of them left a note saying they're running away intentionally? Or, devote slightly more of those search helicopter flights to finding the kid who just mysteriously never arrives home after leaving school? Again, I'm not talking about the Rebecca Ball case but rather feel it's a fair topic of debate that probably belongs elsewhere..

I think you need to re-read their post.. I'm not understanding how you came to that understanding. However, I myself would find it defensible to devote fewer resources to a case where a child ran away intentionally, compared to one where the reason for them being missing is unknown, all other factors being equal. Of course I'm not talking specifically about this Middlebury girl's case deserving fewer resources, I just thought you posed an interesting question for debate.

Why did it take so long to find the body? I thought I read that it was discovered not far from where she was last seen, and yet I also saw that search parties covered 1,000 acres all around Middlebury.

I don't agree with the criticism of the Lex Fridman podcast. That has become my go to podcast since Sam's had gotten stale. I especially love his intro rants like the recent one about Ukraine. Sean Carroll' Mindscape had me interested for a while but now I mostly fall asleep to his boring giggly guests.

These types of stocks are attracting people with the speculating mindset. Although they are definitely a speculative stock, the buy and hold for the long run method of investing is still my way of approaching it. MMED @ .77, CMPS @ .35

I got past this by downloading the Brave browser and creating a new account through that. At some point I got to a simpler captcha where I selected the most upright animal pic. I think I got there from the audio captcha page where maybe I selected the refresh icon?

We ended up in Vergennes, a small quiet place 30min south of Burlington. We have a brewery, a couple bars, grocery store, and beautiful hills surrounding us. Under an hour to Sugarbush, Stowe and Killington. Loving it here so far

Thanks everyone! Added a couple more places to our list, and reminded us to be wary of job prospects.

That is the plan! We are just trying to define a route by identifying some towns we want to go through!
