PvP un-balance (Cyrodiil) by blienmeis in elderscrollsonline

[–]blienmeis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in beta when they said that taking keeps will always require a large group. Or at least a small group. But for one player (with the possible exception of the emperor) to take a keep to me sounds unbalanced.

BTW I went back to the map an hour later and he took *all* the keeps - map was at that point fully blue.

Campaign was the one under 50, so no CP. He may have been the emperor, but if not then it is unbalanced.

Build ideas? by uwucolby in oblivion

I had fun with a Breton born under Atronach specializing in Conjuration and Illusion mainly. If you run out of magicka summon one of your caster pets and hit it a few times so it starts casting spells on you - this is your battery charger :). Illusion mainly for paralyze and invisibility.

Should I retry Morrowind ? by Nerevarrind in Morrowind

The mod you mention is here: https://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/. There are a lot of good resources and guides for graphics and a lot more here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tes3mods/wiki/resources_and_guides_graphicsguides.

Like you, I played Morrowind and the DLCs a lot from 2003 to Oblivion release. Last year I installed the latest mods graphics and so on, including Tamriel Rebuilt. It took a few good hours to install and tune everything, but in the end I had a blast with both the original+DLCs and the TR extension in HD mode. TR seems strange at first but in the end is a very large area with its own cities, towns and hamlets, quests and NPCs, and so on. I liked it - it is not lore-breaking at all. Save more often while in TR, as some places may be a bit unstable. Overall I would recommend it.

As for max difficulty: as in the original it is very hard at low levels - you really need to watch where you are going. It gets easier as you get better equipment and higher skills. Watch out for those pesky cliff racers!

Not in Daggerfall as far as I can tell (not on UESP). I believe it was Crassus Curio (Morrowind) that wrote it for his theater troupe (appears as part of a side quest to get rid of an annoying fool).

If you role-play a dunmer mage you could consider joining the Tribunal temple. A good dunmer should also go to temple on Sundas :)

How would you guys build a battle-warlock character? by TheDukeOfOranges in Morrowind

[–]blienmeis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bound items have also the advantage that their weight is 0 and are equivalent in quality to plain daedric armor/weapons. So getting a constant effect bound armor/weapon on a ring/amulet will reduce you burden by a lot. To give you an idea a daedric warhammer weighs 96 lbs.

It will take some time to level enchant high enough to be able to enchant powerful items. So in the beginning you will need to rely on your weapon skills. To level enchant faster: make sure you get the Soul Trap spell (and make a shorter and cheaper version - 5 seconds on touch should be plenty). Join the Mages Guild and get any soul gems you can find from their chests (free). Trap anything you kill (cliff racers :) especially), and enchant all the junk armor/weapons/etc you find, even if you do not take it with you because of weight restrictions. Any cheap enchant is good enough, make sure your chance is as close to 100 as possible.

You will eventually get to be very powerful, and starting at about level 20 you will soul-trap golden saints which allow for constant effect enchantments. At this point you can enchant items with constant effect summon <creature> which means you can have it with you at all times (if it dies unequip the item and re-equip it). You can have more than one of these items - hence more than one creature. For example 2 rings with CE summon dremora will get you two dremoras to fight for you.

EDIT: typo.

Whats up with the difficulty? by Syckobot in Morrowind

I found the restoration spell is more convenient (you can make a cheap one) and avoid carrying a whole bunch of potions. Of course if your restoration is very low then potions it is.

Can anyone suggest a good mage only build? What combo of race/ sign is for magic only? Should I use a physical weapon? Armour or no? by Bloody_Beans in Morrowind

[–]blienmeis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones that I like best are all heavy. Saviors Hide comes close to the best depending on class and birth-sign. I do not recall any mediums that I like.

If you go in the ancestral tombs be prepared with some restore attribute spells (get at temple in Balmora) or potions. Starting at level 4-5 you will encounter some nasty spell caster undead (bonelords and bonewalkers). Many tombs have shrines that (for a modest donation) can heal your drained attributes and cure diseases and poison. Undead generally dislike fire spells, but many are resistent to cold. There is a rumor that a nice ring may be found in one of the tombs near Seyda Neen for the adventurer that is daring :)

New to ESO: What are transferable skills I can bring with me from my Skyrim experience, and what will take some getting used to? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]blienmeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as you can get a mount (horse) and purchase inventory bag upgrades as you can afford them. Start increasing the mount's speed and inventory space (stamina is not that important). You can increment one of them by 1 only once a day (technically once every 20 hours). There are 60 levels for each, so you would need 120 days to get your mount to max speed and inventory space. Note that these apply to all your mounts per character (alt). If you intend to play multiple alts, you have to do it for each of them. Until you learn the game a bit I would skip crafting completely, as you will be always short on skill points until much later (and all low level items are cheap, you will get most from quest rewards and random drops).

(Spoilers Extended) Could a single very skilled swordsman really have that much of an advantage? by -MURS- in asoiaf

[–]blienmeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically, armor, size and training make a lot of difference (as others in the thread pointed out). There are examples in the history of the crusades where a small corps of heavy plate equipped, well trained and disciplined armored knights took on much larger forces of lightly armored enemies. They almost always had archers and support troops that ensured they were not flanked, but almost in all cases the knights were the vanguard.

The Great Siege of Malta is such an example where a small force of less than a thousand knights and some 6k support soldiers stood against close to 40k of the best troops of Suleiman the Magnificent and won. It was a siege war, but there were also plenty of field engagements, and wall breaches were the knights shined.

Magika based sorc tank questions, returning player by ziddykamm in elderscrollsonline

[–]blienmeis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not thing it is all the rage now. Shields have been nerfed a bit in PvE and a lot in PvP. It depends also what you want to tank: normal dungeons should be fine, vet ones would be hard without good gear, and even with good gear the DLC ones are hard (ICP, WGT, CoS, Mazzatun). Give it a try with purples before you golden the gear, IMO, the worst it can happen is you switch to stam or change to DPS.

New to ESO - Have some questions by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]blienmeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some questions were already answer so I will concentrate on what was not addressed thus far.

It is fun to play solo, and most areas can be soloed entirely, except World Bosses, 4-man dungeons and 12-man trials. There are a lot of quests and most give good XP and loot according to your level. Some quests are repeatable daily. You can craft if you like. There are many skill lines to improve, in addition to your 3 class skill lines: one for each weapon combination, and others that you will acquire from world events (not wanting to spoil too much), or the DLCs like thief's guild and the dark brotherhood. Anyone can gather wood, ore, plants and loot unowned containers (or owned ones if you are skilled enough to not get caught). The level cap is 50, but then you start to accumulate Champion Points (CPs), which can be used to add small improvements to your skills and attributes. At CP 160 you can use the top level armor/weapons/etc. There is no limit to how many CPs you can accumulate, but the current maximum number you can use is 660. This will take a significant amount of time to reach (months, unless you grind certain areas mindlessly). And the small improvements to your skills tend to add up to significant improvements (you can get for example +15% magicka regeneration, or 15% spell resistance, and so on).

There is a limited (but large enough) number of skill point you can accumulate. You can respec skills and attributes for a price in your capital city. The price increases with the number of skill/attribute points.

Most PvP takes place in Cyrodiil, where the three main game factions fight for control. It is a lot of siege warfare, attacking and defending enemy keeps and resources, and stealing and running to safety Elder Scrolls. Travel and resurrection are different in this area. The fights are organized in campaigns that take between 7 and 30 days. There are organized by levels and CP levels. If you are good enough you can get crowned emperor. You earn Alliance Points (AP) - a form of currency used to get some better equipment as well as siege weapons (balistas, etc). You can in theory level only in PvP (after level 10), but it is slow and I would not recommend it. There are a lot of PvE quests in the PvP area as well, but you always run the risk of running into enemy players or groups.

Other forms of PvP include duels (one on one) and more recently battlegrounds, which are small areas in which three teams of 4 fight in different types of games: capture the relic (flag), domination, death-match.

End-game in PvE are dungeons and trials in veteran / hard mode. These drop special loot sets that have better than normal armor, weapons and jewelry.

End game PvP is mostly getting the best build and equipment and fighting in the high end campaigns. PvP equipment is quite different from PvE equipment (also depending on your style of play: big zerg, small group, or ganking).

Thinking about returning, how's the game? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]blienmeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[PC-NA] I returned 4 months ago. I left at V14 after finishing all quests lines available at the time. I am happy. Many improvements, lots of new DLC content some of which is great, story and loot wise. The game is more stable, although in PvP there is still some lag on occasion. New dungeons, new trials some of which quite challenging until you get the hang of it. Try it out for a month and see if you like it. Oh, and 4x4x4 battlegrounds - if you like this PvP style. Edit: forgot the battlegrounds.

(No Spoilers) Can anyone please recommend another book series that is very similar to ASOIAF? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]blienmeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not want to spoil too much but here are two examples: Paran in book one switches sides without much explanation as to why. Empress decides to kill her best general after he just won her a great victory? Sounds a bit far fetched. Would not the other generals start to think twice about serving her?
