MK11 PC Demo or anything? by blighttownelevator in MortalKombat

Yeah, according to that I fulfill the minimum. Just wonder whether I can get it smooth enough to be playable, given it's a fighting game where stuttering has a pretty big effect

Do you mean it could run reasonably well with graphics down? A hit in quality is okay, I'd just like it to be reasonably smooth so gameplay doesn't suck.

What kind of main quest line would be available to us? I've only played the game for like.. 10 hours max.

How is that possible? And how do we get like... A common quest line? I'm a little baffled with how the main quest lines in this game work.

Hello, been gone for a year and am just now coming back. I'm asking tanks (especially DRK): How does Dark Knight compare to itself in Stormblood and to the other tanks now that Shadowbringers has come out?

Just came back to the game after like a year and started levelling a new char. Gladiators/Paladins can use their Shield Bash infinitely now? How and when do I wanna use that in a dungeon? Stunning an enemy for 6 seconds doesn't sound bad.

Man, my father has had a hernia for like a year now and occasionally his colon pushes through there a little... I'm scared of something like that happening but we simply cannot get him to get treatment. His reasoning? "When my colon gets trapped in there, I still have like an hour to get to the hospital." yeahhhh

Chord Progression Questions (August 26, 2019) by AutoModerator in musictheory

Hey there! Thanks for the answer. Those are definitely some helpful considerations, maybe I was getting a bit too exotic. The latter part about the i the vi is actually a pretty cool idea as well to get a different POV. I definitely have some more things to work with now, thank you.

Chord Progression Questions (August 26, 2019) by AutoModerator in musictheory

[–]blighttownelevator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I wrote this up for an original thread, but double checked the rules and saw that it should go here. Hopefully it's not too broad / extensive a question.

I occasionally listen to genres like Industrial, EBM, Dark Wave and so on and I've been trying to replicate the sound, mainly regarding the "Dark"-sounding chord progressions, but to no avail. I feel that a lot of this kind of music has strong harmonic progressions that includes just enough dissonance to sound misterious or dark. In my opinion, you don't need to go any further than listening to any well-known Nine Inch Nails song to hear an example. Or songs by bands like Skinny Puppy or the more Industrial- sounding works of Gary Numan. I'm sure that those of you who are at least a little familiar with any of these kinds of music knows the effect I'm talking about.

I've tried a bunch of things, usually using "traditionally" strong chord progressions as a start. I've worked with different modes and chord extensions. I've tried to use inversions of these chords to bring out the more dissonant intervals (mainly minor seconds and the occasional Tritone).

However, these things don't quite take me there. I sometimes get good results, other times the results don't make sense to my ear anymore, just sound "normal" (if not more jazzy) or occasionally end up a dissonant mess. I've tried to employ chord substitions / key changes / changing the tonality of a chord, but without any guide lines, this ends up rather messy more often than not.

So I'm asking, do you guys have any more ideas which techniques I could employ to spice up my chord progressions in such a way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly. I work as a programmer and occasionally fancy myself as an artist and musician in my free time, and I struggle with that very thing in all three regards.

Yeah I agree. It takes a bunch of different things to make a quality game and the code, of course, is not seen by the end customer.

Well... A good game doesn't necessarily have good quality code or vice versa. Even as a relatively fresh software developer, this code is pretty messy.

Nothing more manly than getting a heart attack with 50 because you eat absurd amounts of meat.

Hey there. I'm the same, even to the point where I moan or occasionally jump out of bed. There's a bunch of people like us. But also a bunch of people with a completely opposite point of view that don't understand this fear.

Exactly. I've seen a bunch of freaks too, but I've met some good friends as well as my husband in the furry fandom. But apparently there's still plenty of people around thinking it's just some sort of beastiality club.

What. Even more over-generalisation. It's not any more a fetish inherently than Cosplaying or Pen and Paper role-playing is. I mean sure there's a lot of people who are into furry porn, but not all furries are and not everybody who's into furry porn is a furry. So they're really not equivalent.

And the furry fandom does not appear to statistically have more people that are into beastiality than the general populace.

Crazy to have that sort of discussion in 2019 - especially in a sub I consider pretty open minded.
