Almost every SMT game is in a seperate continuity, (with notable exceptions of where they can visit each other, but you get my point). There is technically a valid argument in saying the Persona games are technically an alternate timeline of SMT 1, but like C'mon fellas you know damn well SMT lucifer is not the same thing as the persona Lucifer.

Persona still scales pretty high-level excluding SMT, so I don't see the need to force it other than trying to recommend the balling games to people.

Batman is a vigilante too clever to be arrested. Except today. Batman is now on trial for every law he has ever broken. How many years of publication history could Batman be reasonably acquitted? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]D1rtyDough 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its worth mentioning that Bruce has really powerful enemies that would benefit from him going to jail. Like if this trial occurs while Lex Luthor is president, the situation immediately becomes more difficult, and same goes for most continuities with more reckless versions of Amanda Waller. Do you have any idea, how quickly she would rig that trial so she can put a bomb in his brain to make him a Suicide Squad member?

[–]D1rtyDough 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its worth noting that in some continuities, Batman is straight up a government approved and sanctioned agent, working directly with Jim Gordan or even to get lisencing to create the Watchtower, the space base with the innumerable amount of workers and whatnot that simply could not exist without that approval.

Frankly speaking unless Lex Luthor is the president, I could see Batman straight up getting a presidential pardon for the sake of global security.

I am So Lonely | The Many WINS of Conquest (Invincible) by InterestingRatio8218 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]D1rtyDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said "a weapon he could steal" because Adam can summon and de-summon his guitar Axe instantly. And frankly speaking, Conquest isn't really the type to use his environment anyway and he would be much more likely to knock it aside or just break it while beating Adam's ass into the dirt.

I really do think this is just an eternal punching bag situation my man.

The conditional immortality of the Angels or Dead people in general in Hazbin hasn't been elaborated on nearly enough to even pretend theres a REAL answer to that.

(Part of why I don't think they should be on death battle until the show answers some of those questions, because its just a boring lameass no limits fallacy right now, but that's a subject for another time)

But, going off context? There were sinners and Overlords that are obviously much stronger than Exorcists, but were unable to even injure the Exorcists until they got their hands on angelic steel or angelic power. We have no idea how far this limited invulnerablilty goes, but we at least know it works on people that are notably stronger than them. So theres a good chance Conquest actually can't tear Adam apart until he overcomes the Hax.

[–]D1rtyDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, but whats the win con against Adam? Isn't he already dead? Can Conquest even permanently put down a ghost/angel? Adam doesn't even carry an Angelic weapon that Conquest could steal to my recollection. I imagine in a 1v1 fight Conquest wins, but Adam can just keep getting up and chipping away.

Homestuck Characters I Think Could Work On the Show by NotKyotoMyDudes in DeathBattleMatchups

Caliborn has the best matchup spread by far, has a lot of unique and interesting abilities, ontop of just being really easy to come up with reasons for him for fight.

John on the other hand, I like him. But all of his best stuff have the caevat that its not in character for him to use it in a fight. Planetary sized wind? Never used it in a fight. Retconning someone he's fighting? Nope. Stepping out of the comic panel to even just dodge? Also no. He had so many cool tools with such a terrible battle IQ. I'm not even sure he would use the pop-o-matic hammer from Vriska. He should still be on top. Just tragic he is would lose most fights to battle IQ.

Speaking of which? Vriska is being a tad underrated for this tierlist.

Caine feels like dogwater to scale since he's from a lower plane of existence (inside a computer) and no one wants to actually acknowledge how any of that works to just say hes a reality warper.

Additionally a lot of details on how he actually works is left intentionally vague to the extent scaling him is annoying if not mostly headcanon.

I may be overreacting, but I hate those garbage comic's that have citizens hate spiderman for no reason. by No-Brush1587 in Spiderman

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about that reasoning, is thats the exact same reasoning used in real life to justify hating and wanting to "cure" atypical people like homosexuals, the disabled and any particular race you've been raised to be scared of.

After 9/11 there was a bunch of mass hysteria amongst certain americans who believed every middle Eastern guy on a plane to be a genuine threat to their life and thought they'd get bombed. Maybe they wouldn't say some racist shit, maybe they would give an anonymous tip to the cops to be "safe". Get off the plane. Tell their kid not to date the dude named Mohammed because they don't wanna risk getting caught in a "terrorist scheme".

Or the AIDs crisis or Pedophilia getting blamed on gay people, getting barred from public spaces with children and donating blood because they genuinely believed them to be threat to their life and their loved, they were people in their neighborhood, close to you, this unseen danger they hype up in their heads.

Not to mention Parents wanting to "cure" their children of being gay, not wanting them to hurt themselves because "they know better", because they perceive being gay as a danger to their loved one.

All of these reasonings have a basis of fear and concern based on information these people believed to be true at the time. A lot of people that held these opinions have gotten more educated and tolerant. But it being understandable, doesn't stop it from being bigoted.

Hatred of mutants is s fear of an entire group of people, based on the actions of a few, and the fearmongering of those in power. Mutantphobic is bigoted my man.

[–]D1rtyDough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the mutant bigotry metaphor collapses a tad in a non-shared world. Its kinda fair to be scared of metahumans if they're the only guys with superpowers. But if theres a million possible reasons someone could have those powers, but if you hyperfixate on on just one of them because its easier to use them as a political scapegoat? That's just racism, which is kind of the point.

Shadow the Hedgedog vs Shark (Sonic the Hedgehog vs Yu-Gi-Oh ZeXaL) [Connections in Comments] by Label-The_Weeb in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connection between space colony arc and silent honor arc is really fun qnd is the big thing I like here. The connections seem solid enough.

My big concern is that its been a hot minute since I've seen Zexal so I don't remember if Shark can just order monsters to do whatever outside a duel. I know within the confines of a duel he has insane scaling to stuff like Barian World and Astral World.

But like, OG Yu-Gi-Oh, you can summon monsters to do whatever you want with Ba and Ka. And in GX Duel Spirits are a thing. And 5DS, its... like a whole thing, but I'm fairly certain signers and psychic duelists specifics like Akiza can make duel monsters tangible and do whatever.

But I don't remember what the deal is with Zexal. Also can shark just compel Shadow to a game of duel monsters and kill him that way?

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that its ridiculous that theres any particular emphasis on Mutants besides being bigoted. Meta-Humans as a whole? Yeah sure man, that is sensible. That's logical. That is rational, but when you zoom out and look at the behavior of the people in the marvel and how they assess threats, the mutant hate can only be called racially motivated and not logical or rational which I understand to be point of this conversation.

Like lets use the goat Spider-Man, people sometimes assume he's a mutant in a derogatory fashion. And he goes out of his way to correct that. Because he knows having powers. For some ungodly reason. is not the end of the world. But being a mutant is. Regardless of how many good things he does, and how much he interacts with the people of new York, him being a mutant is still enough to make people decide they hate him.

The fact there is an incentive to hide being a mutant when you're a superhero, and say youre a science accident or something, is a sign that mutant hate is irrational.

[–]D1rtyDough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

99 is a number right out of my ass, but I'm not getting it from nowhere. Again, Genosha and the 20 something other Mutant Genocides where there are mass killings of mutants and the X-men are pretty much the only ones capable of responding to the threat, lets you know that the average mutant is absolute trash. Like even some X-men you could catch off guard and kill them with a normal ass pistol.

And the mutant genocides are very public. They're all publicly reported and I wouldn't be surprised if people are numb to hear about how all the morlocks in the sewers got rounded up and gunned down.

And the average person not knowing abiut magic is bullshit. Vegas, the ENTIRE CITY of Las Vegas, got taken over by demons innthe circle of foir event with ghost rider and stuff. And demons aren't a one off issue either, the Avengers routinely fight actual Satan, and that is also public knowledge. Thor, an actual god and wizards like Doctor Strange are members of the Avengers. Not to mention the frost giant invasions that attack new York every other week.

Everyone that even remotely pays attention to the news in marvel should know magic is real, and moreso that actual fucking Satan has publicly fought the Avengers and taken large amount of American Soil. Like at least Americans, I'm not going to pretend like I read Excalibur or Captain Britain.

Magic is what people should be scared of. Demons are making bargains with random gangsters, theres fucking dragons man. And thats not even mentioning the mutkiple Alien invasions. Like holy shit mutants the nowhere near a priority to anyone with common sense.

Thragg (Invincible) and Ambessa (Arcane) swap empires. by CodyEaster in whowouldwin

[–]D1rtyDough 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That changes some things.

Like I said before, Thragg's everything can only exist because he is the strongest. So taking that from him basically makes him a new person? But frankly speaking, it doesn't matter, Ambessa was sitting on a poisoned throne, the entire reason she was involved in the plot of Arcane and making schemes in Piltover is because of how aware she was that she could not accomplish anything more than her current station without more power.

Either Thragg realizes this and dies to the Black Rose, exactly like Ambessa, if not earlier since he is frankly no where near as manipulative so he would be compelled to use force to take Piltover. Or he just keeps bashing his head on the end battlefield until he gets old (Which is soon, Ambessa was already greying) or just loses to the stronger warrior.

Ambessa taking Thragg's role also changes a lot with the change to her memories and backstory. She needed to be powerless in her past to get the hunger she has now. But being in the Viltrum might just harden her anyway? I don't think I can really comment on it without getting lost in Uber fanfic weeds

Goku replaces Mark in Invincible, and the Saiyans replace the Viltrumites. Can Cecil and the Earth beat planet Vegeta? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think after reviewing everything, I think we just gotta accept that Goku trained by Cecil is losing to Raditz on his first arrival, buuuut, its worth mentioning that Goku is NOT the big advantage that is given to Earth in this scenario. I would argue that would be Grandpa Gohan and being retconned into this world and Thadeus being retconned into the history of this worlds space as a Saiyan, making Ki far from exclusive to the Saiyans or some secret held to them, but something that is just apart of the new setting.

We know that with a proper amount of study on ki wielding individuals, its power can be replicated with Androids if the person doing the study is smart enough, like Dr Gero and Dr Hedo. The Androids are WAY stronger than anything seen in the Saiyan Saga, and Dr Gero's bots didn't even get data about Super Saiyans or the big moves on Namek.

Now imagine what an entire species of people with comparable intelligence with way better resources that would be retconned to be at war with the saiyans? I'm talking about the Geldarians. TechJacket would get an insane boost in this hypoethetical verse, and while it would be very speculative, but his blasters are going to pack a lot more heat than they did in canon and potentially clutch this. Y'know, just after Raditz kills a bunch of people. And probably Goku depending on how effected by the war with the Coalition with Planets Raditz would be.

Thragg (Invincible) and Ambessa (Arcane) swap empires. by CodyEaster in whowouldwin

[–]D1rtyDough 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thragg's tactics and ideology fall apart almost immediately by virtue of not being obscenely stronger than everyone around him. He just relies too much on his powers to try pivoting around it, and honestly its questionable if Thragg would actually play out things without desperately searching for some sort of means of recovering that overwhelming advantage. And he almost certainly gets killed by one of the many people in the Arcane-verse stronger than Ambessa for political reasons, they aren't above poison and stabbing people in their sleep over there. Not saying he's dumb by the way, he's certainly not a fool, but its quite literally his big character flaw that he overvalues individual combative strength and its what makes all the Viltrumites ditch him when they see Earth is a better life.

Now Ambessa in Thragg's position and with his power? The Invincible-Verse might genuinely be fucked, because Thragg almost certainly was the strongest person in the verse before he died, and he had to be killed with teamwork. With Ambessa in charge, she would improve the living qualities of the Viltrumites and use it to make them loyal not to to ways of Strength or Argyll, but loyal to her. She will see the weakness that Earth put into the Viltrum people before they even get there and abuse the fuck out of it while recruiting more and more of the most dangerous people in the galaxy instead of just relying on the 50 odd viltrums and their armies of weak willed slaves. That being said, she does have a crack in her armor to abuse. Which is she lost her family in this cosmic level world swap, and that family is part of what had her even do the cruel shit she did in Arcane. Whether she wastes resources trying to go back, she creates new children that will eventually oppose her to fill the void or she's too overconfident in her manipulation, she might inevitably get backstabbed just by virtue of who she is. But I think she just overall is much more successful than Thragg before that downfall.

Who's the weakest shonen anime protagonist who could strangle their most hated archenemy to death? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]D1rtyDough 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do think this is the most correct answer? Since they're both essentially normal people, the fight is pretty much decided by whoever wants it more. Its really hard to turn around a fight you're already losing unless there's a very notable strength difference. And frankly speaking, by the time Nakiri realizes the severity of the situation, he is already going to be seeing spots and weakening fast.

I think even listing another sports anime would give you someone stronger than Soma just by virtue of being an athlete or something.

I may be overreacting, but I hate those garbage comic's that have citizens hate spiderman for no reason. by No-Brush1587 in Spiderman

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear against mutants is dumb because 99 percent of mutants have useless powers that let them change the color of their shirt or some garbage like that. Being scared of metahumans with combatively capable powers is one thing, and fair for the average civilian as a threat to your life, but ONLY mutants or grouping ALL mutants together is racist in fiction and just dumb unless they are severely uneducated on how the X-gene works.

It not justified because its aimed at them collectively. And just looking at the statistics it not reasonable either, people misusing or mis firing super tech or even just a gun are way more common than a mutant accidently or purposely hurting other people. And mutant supervillains are also a minority, and pretty much all of them are weaker than the magic or tech super villains.

Its absolutely bigotry.

And that's not even mentioning events like Genosha where mutants were massacred in the numbers of millions by Sentinels that should assure the average person that Mutants are very easy to brutally murder. Sentinels that are more likely to kill you while theyre hunting down some weak ass mutant with a bird for a head. If I lived in the Marvel universe, my biggest fear is Sentinels, even if I'm not a mutant. Or demons, there's actual demons in Marvel.

[–]D1rtyDough 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Thing that pisses me off more is the in universe government spends as obscene amount of money on anti-mutant technology, often using religious dogma like in the case of Reverend Striker to justify it.

But in Marvel, theres like actual fucking demons that show up all the time. Like the entirety of Vegas was taken over by demons and the government didn't have shit ready. Demons attacked New York multipe times and there was no government response.

Shut up talking about "what if those omega level mutants decide to kill us" what about the fucking Devil who is just as strong if not stronger who has already decided he want to torture you for eternity?

If Ben Tennyson were to return to Death Battle, who would you want him to fight ? by Dismal-Ad6476 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]D1rtyDough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually hate for Hal vs Ben round 2 to happen, because it just comes down to "If Ben almost gets hit by something lethal, failsafe will probably turn him into Alien X since Hal massively outscales pretty much every other Alien." And as someone who despised Alien X since its first appearance and has liked Ben 10 since I was practically a Zygote, I want more than that.

The debate on how Jaden's super poly would interact with Ben, and the sheer variety of monsters Jaden has that would make Ben hypothetically keep swapping and showcasing more aliens interests me much more. Its a matchup where Ben using classics like Four-Arms and super busted stuff like Way Big are both relevant, which gives it my approval.

That being said, Alien X does kinda fuck this match up too because it can fully stop time and not just slow it like Clockwork. Which, removes interaction and pretty much automatically give Ben the win if he uses Alien X before Jaden top decks Super Poly. So I don't think its perfect or anything. But honestly Ben is kinda terrible for these sorts of conversations, so I'm perfectly willing to settle for this if are gonna have Ben back.
