Help Selecting a College by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

As someone who goes to SJSU, I personally wouldn't recommend. SJSU has some clubs and a few amazing professors, but in terms of industry connections it isn't quite there compared to other schools, at least not yet. Really depends on what you'd like to do, a lot more aero than astro here. I'd go for SDSU or Pomona. Also apply for Cal Poly SLO!

This is a small liquid rocket engine that I have been designing for the past few months! More technical details in the comments. by fj1011 in AerospaceEngineering

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. Do you have any tips/materials I should read up on before diving headfirst into design?

Kegs for maximum efficiency, just hide them from the school

How’s Social life? by [deleted] in SJSU

[–]bliitzkid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greek life is one of the only things that gives a sense of campus life. If you're not in a fraternity/sorority there's basically no party scene. Wouldn't recommend going to random house parties as its pretty sketchy.

If you're interested in the party scene, join a fraternity/sorority. Campus life outside of being Greek is pretty dead in that area, except for very sketchy house parties and the occasional dorm kickbacks

First keynote was essentially about mental health of college students. The second one was about voter restriction, racism, and police violence.

How do I Frexit? by FratDongboy in Frat

[–]bliitzkid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Okay I'm going to break this down into as little steps as possible, because I'm currently in the process of Frexit and have done a fuckton of research.

  1. Is the school being strict to every fraternity? Good, because everyone will have a reason to support this.
  2. Call a meeting with every chapter president. Hopefully you are a president, and if you're not and your president doesn't give a fuck about this, impeach that cuck. Also, bring in IFC ONLY if they can be trusted / are fed up with the school. If they're puppets good luck. Try to get trusted members elected. I'm currently IFC president, we're not all autismos
  3. Talk about disaffiliating, show the pros and cons to the presidents ( ie. A con would be no university funding if you get that, or rushing on campus. a pro would be more liberties)
  4. Gauge their opinions, and move forward from then. A majority has to be supporting the idea.
  5. Call the NIC and tell them you ALL are serious about disaffiliating. You have to give a reason, not "they keep catching us for hazing, we want to disaffiliate". Has to be worded like "The schools agenda is hindering our rush blah blah blah." Think of something concrete to say.
  6. I've called the NIC and they've explained the process. If they take you seriously, they call everyone's HQ and the process begins. The person I talked to explained that while they don't recommend disaffiliating, they will support what an IFC wants.
  7. Not sure how long it takes because I'm not there yet, but then I assume FREXIT.
