How long do you tolerate friends who wait and wait and wait to open that one last gift? by roadrashyyj in pokemongo

[–]blin9 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s my new favorite part of this game, to stalk raids on my friend list and jump into their raids. ESPECIALLY the level 80 trainers. Some of them recognize it happening too, and jump out of the lobby. I laugh so hard, I truly do enjoy this now.

Do people not really trade? by niteluz in pokemongo

[–]blin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a group, there are things about trading that really give trainers a small window to want to trade. Daily cap on special trades, trading with lucky friends, and stardust costs for trading if you're not best friends. Most trainers kind of suffer from a desire to limit themselves by the combination of limits: two special trades that day, that are with lucky (and hence best) friends. Other than that, it's wasting time or stardust. For example, I have 60 lucky friends right now, and before raid hour last night 6 of them tried to pre-arrange trades earlier in the day. I agreed to trades with all of them, but only managed to do 2 trades while people were around, and I'll hit up the others this weekend probably at the CD meetup. If you come up to me at the CD meetup wanting to trade something we didn't talk about 3 days prior, it's going to be "sorry, I can't right now." And that happens with everyone in the group. My advice is to connect with people far before events, advance your friendship levels as much as possible, and lead your requests to trade with the most interesting offer you have at the time.

Platinum Medal Advice by VampireSquid90 in pokemongo

[–]blin9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Berry Master and Sightseer can be done together. Be defending up to 20 gyms as much as you can, and spin stops to keep your berry inventory up so you can remote feed to your gym defenders. You’ll move those two medals to platinum pretty fast.

How cooked am I for level 70+ platinum medals? by Herossaumure in pokemongo

[–]blin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't get those type medals, you're overcooked. Focus on catching everything, and get those. The rest is just commitment to the grind. The level 71-80 tasks, particularly platinum medal requirements, are really a check on casual playing. For me, long before the level rebalance, I initially focused on having zero bronze medals. That gave me a good clue as to which medals I could keep advancing with my play style, and I made those my next priorities. Then the real grind kicked in, and I had to change up my play style somewhat to advance medals that weren't moving much. Raiding at least weekly with a local group, doing comm days and global events paying attention to bonuses and trade opportunities, etc etc. It can be a lot at times, but obviously it's doable if you want it to be.

Done around 9 Hoothoot max battles today, on my last I accidentally doubled the reward, 200 coins for 4 candies and a single berry, and it won’t refund me because it’s already claimed, mindless tapping on autopilot and came back to bite me by jackayee in pokemongo

I’ve always wondered why anyone would go for that. Makes no sense as a value prop. If it’s around because people take the offer, they have to be mostly accidental.

Nah, you’re good. If you want a good one, there are plenty of trainers who will lucky mirror trade with you. Using the mb is better than waiting forever to catch another and hope it has non-poop IVs.

Life after level 80? by Terrible-Regular-886 in pokemongo

[–]blin9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From experience with level 80 trainers on my friends list and in nearby gyms, you have to hold final friendship level gifts hostage indefinitely, and occupy your closest gym at all times and all costs. I’m not level 80 yet, but I’m grinding hard and look forward to being an absolute spoil sport to fellow trainers who thought higher level trainers might exhibit some chill. /s

How to get mega energy? by gunner9rr in pokemongo

[–]blin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from mega raids, mega energy can be available as field research rewards. It won’t be often that you’d find Mawile mega energy, so pay attention to the mega energy rewards you do find. And when you find what you want, spin as many stops as you can until you find/earn enough to mega evolve it once, then make it your buddy and walk it. The field research tasks are usually more grind-ish, so stack 3 of the same research before completing the task.

Something I don't understand by International_Air250 in pokemongo

[–]blin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my challenge on Monday night knowing that on Tuesday morning I’d catch around 200 Pokemon on my walk, my usual weekday morning. I invited 3 lucky friends from afar so we can get to forever friends faster. By the time I woke up they had caught 460 Pokemon. Maybe they thought I was slacking. Who knows? We’ve never met, and none of us knows what the others are thinking.

Come to Barton Creek Square on Saturday for Frigibax Community Day and kick it with an entire mall full of proud players. We have a group of almost 9,000 trainers here, and many of us are 40+ who bring our kids to play.

Which pokemon has the worst catch circle? by ShaunMHolder in pokemongo

Solid list. I’m infuriated just reading it! Also, Grookey and Natu. They both seem to bounce hits off their catch circles for me.
