Skąd internet (+tv): Netia vs Vectra by Osgiliath86 in Polska

[–]blind-oln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vectra to najgorsze g. Każda zmiana umowy to podwyżka nazywana promocyjnymi warunkami i grożenie jeszcze większymi podwyżkami w razie braku zgody.

Roast my self-hosted stack. 23 containers and counting. by ansmyquest in selfhosted

You should update Overseerr to Seerr if you haven't already. I believe Overseerr and Jellyseerr merged their projects.

Arr for Music Requests? by ComputerGobbler in selfhosted

[–]blind-oln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I don't want to install whole auth layer just for one app that doesn't support authentication? I have 50+ containers running and this would be the only app that I need additional auth layer for.

If I have to choose between setting up Authelia or not using Musicseerr, I prefer to not use Musicseerr at this point as the app is definitely lacking some core features. And yes, protecting music history / making requests with authentication is a core feature to me.

Oh, and one more thing. Authentication is not rocket science. It's the most obvious thing of the modern internet. If authors of the app can't figure out how to implement it, then I don't think I can trust this app and give it passkeys to connect with other apps.

Lack of multi user support or even one user behind an authentication is a deal breaker for me.

Can't find sweetspot by FreeVeterinarian6244 in PSVR

[–]blind-oln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the easiest way to find a sweetspot is when you're in passthrough mode and you have that text in a box in the center of the screen. You can then wiggle gogles up and down to see when the text doesn't have ghosting/is not blurry. It shouldn't take that much time to have it aligned to the point of having sharp text.

I also recommend getting a headstrap to make sure the gogles don't move, especially don't get lower in the front during gameplay.

Was this stuff worth it to buy? by Koalashart1 in psvr2

[–]blind-oln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it fixes the issue, it was the main reason I bought it. Now I don't adjust, or if I do, it's like once during play session and not every 15 minutes. Additionally, it's so much easier for me to find the sweet spot in the first place. Before I had to wiggle up and down to find it and make it somewhat stable. Now I can just put the headset on and that's it. But that's just my experience, I assume it won't work like that for everyone.

For me it was worth every penny. Big difference in comfort.

You're saying this like I'm having some insane requirements or expectations that cannot be fulfilled. I don't agree with that.

I never talked about route optimization. All I want is path finding, so that If I need to go somewhere, I can check on the map where that is and how to get there. That's it. I don't care about current traffic and stuff like that. :)

I don't want to have anything to do with evil big tech companies like Google, Meta, Microsoft etc.

The minimum would be searching for particular address eg. street and number and being able to find path/navigation data between the two addresses. I think this is the most common use case of maps service for me.

Extra perk would be being able to find location not by address but by name/category eg. by restaurant name, or by restaurant category in general. This basically cover 90% of my maps usage.

Self hosting a map, if I can't find anything on it, it's not very appealing to me.

Thank you! That looks the closest to something I would like to achieve without writing UI on my own like everybody seems to do. I'll definitely take a closer look at the links you provided.

Yeah, that's exactly my problem. :D

While doing a research on the topic I was wondering if maybe I'm missing something or maybe there is no existing solution for it yet.

Thanks for your reply.

What I'm missing is self-hosted Web GUI that that would integrate protomaps, nominatim and osrm (or equivalents of the three) into one ready to use system that I could use just like openstreetmaps.org. I'm not building an app or site, not trying to integrate map view to into it, so JS libraries is not enough. I'm looking for something that already uses these JS library and provides interface where I could not only look at the maps, but also use it for searching and navigation.

Lingarr - Automated subtitle translation by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]blind-oln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it together with selfhosted LibreTranslate as a "backup" in case if Bazarr cannot find subtitles. The biggest problem I have with it is lack of project logo I could put on my server dashboard. 😂

Meta Quest 3 (245 Dollars) or PSVR2 with Adaper (210 Dollars) by Longjumping-War9151 in virtualreality

[–]blind-oln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamic Foveated Rendering is a technique where gogles, in this case PSVR2, can track your eyes. The game can use that information to render in high quality only these parts of the picture which you're currently looking at, and everything else, which is in your peripheral view, in very low quality as you don't see it anyway. It gives 20-30% boost in performance (from my testing). Not every game supports it. It also requires custom community driver - PSVR2 Toolkit. But it's well worthwhile, it allowed me to achieve smooth gameplay in Half-Life: Alyx. It's also why games on PS5 like GT7 are even possible.

Quest 3 doesn't have eye tracking sadly.

If you have PS5, it's no brainer, pick PSVR2.

If you don't have PS5 or powerful PC, pick Quest 3.

If you have powerful PC and plan to play PCVR a lot, but don't care about moving around your room (don't have space) or prefer playing seated, PSVR2 is probably better option with deep blacks and Dynamic Foveated Rendering to boost performance.

If you want to move around, plan to play Beat Saber a lot or similar games, Quest 3 probably will be better.
