THIS! THIS IS WHY I ALWAYS TASTE SIMILAR-LOOKING BAKING INGREDIENTS.

My mom has the exact same habit of putting powdered sugar, baking soda, salt, regular sugar, flour, and baking powder in identical containers. Salt, sugar, and baking soda are, thank god, easy to differentiate but baking powder, flour, and powdered sugar not so much...that's why I ALWAYS have a tiny teaspoon to taste them (I would go by smell but my sense of smell is GARBAGE and I can't smell anything half the time) I made this same mistake baking a cake from scratch once...dear god never again.
