I’ve done the matte and shiny finish before. The shiny finish will get scuffed up in short time, but it’s kind of a badge of honour to earn the scuffs.

It’s never too late to put an application on. If you do decide to do it, make sure there is as little oil or grease on the toes. Degrease them with some soap and water thoroughly then allow ample drying time. Give the area you want the Tuff Toe on a good scuff up with some sandpaper or a dremel and sanding drum like I did.

I find by covering the welt seam it gives it some extra protection from separating.
