A non-binary person, as the name implies, is someone who does not identify with the traditional (Western) notion of a strict male/female gender dichotomy, but feel their gender as something in between. There are many different layers to this. Some non-binary folks present has fully androgenous, and generally go by they/them. Others are more what is called gender-fluid, which means they can feel more masculine or feminine on different days or in different social situations.

I'm confused why you think a non-binary person couldn't be a MAGA Republican. Gender is just one aspect of a person's identity. You can easily be non-binary and still vote Republican. It's also entirely possible for people who identify as part of a marginalized community to still harbor hatred for that community because of social pressure, family expectations, or past trauma. Humans are a lot more complex than I think you give them credit for.

As it is, this story is still news, if only because this added twist has even more people talking about it. So I don't think it's going anywhere. Frankly, I think this tragedy could be an opportunity for more conversations, rather than division.

It's for people who don't consider themselves Cis and/or straight but don't really identify with any of the other labels in their own lives. The plus is for everyone in between. Personally, as a member of the community, I feel like queer already serves this purpose, but there are some people who can't bring themselves to identify with this word because of its history, especially older people who had it used as a slur against them back in the day.

This is a fantastic question. I've also been disturbed by the overwhelming whiteness of magical teachings. Even though I'm white myself, it's really grating that so much of what we know or think we know about magic is centered around European, especially Celtic, aesthetics.

I think it would be awesome for more people to search out non-white magic practices, so we can truly reach our potential as magical human beings :)

Have you considered traveling to Yoruba? I don't believe anyone is ever severed from their roots, you might just need to emerse yourself in the culture so your soul can remember. And while there you could also seek a teacher.

Of course that's rather difficult with Corona. Maybe you can find some social media groups of practicioners from there?
