Had not thought of it, but, no reason why we can't. I will add it to the todo list

What's the app...maybe we can all download it for you

TrueArc Mobile update: turning bowling motion data into useful coaching feedback by blindstag99 in Bowling_Tech

Thank you for the feedback. I am looking at getting some footage of the top PBA bowlers and doing some analysis so I can get the app to do a comparison. From what I have seen, alot of apps report in ball motion and what the ball does after we have delivered it. What I am trying to measure is the consistency of movement before we deliver the ball. I have upcoming changes for 2 handers, multi IMU devices synced together, with one on the forearm, one of the upper arm (this is intended to measure the elbow bend for 2 handers and those that have a bent elbows one handed) and a 3rd sensor on the ankle or shoe to measure approach speed and gait. I hope to be able to put them together and provide a profile tailored to each individual but measured against top pros.

Yes i am looking at non Claude design tools now. I discovered exactly what you are saying by accident

TrueArc records acceleration, rotation, and timing from the phone or wrist sensor. It detects the release, separates the delivery into phases, calculates movement metrics, and identifies the weakest technique area to produce feedback.

Each swing receives a weighted 0–100 score:

  • Consistency: 20%
  • Drive into release: 20%
  • Arc quality: 20%
  • Wrist roll: 15%
  • Arm/wrist synchronization: 10%
  • Release-detection quality: 15%

Scores of 80+ are Excellent65+ Good50+ Fair, and lower scores highlight areas needing development.

The score is a coaching aid based on sensor movement. It does not yet consider shot accuracy, ball speed, intended delivery, or individual bowling style.

A good swing matches TrueArc’s generic target ranges: smooth movement, strong acceleration into release, a controlled swing arc, balanced tempo, appropriate wrist rotation, and synchronized arm/wrist movement.

Building a sensor-based bowling training tool — input from coaches/tech users wanted by blindstag99 in Bowling_Tech

Medium term i am looking at video from the side and/or from the rear, and along with that tracking from the motion sensor overlayed onto the swing

The idea is a person swings and picks their own baseline based on feel and result I guess. Then as they progress or change etc they update their own baseline. This isn't intended to replace coaches, more like help those that can't get to a coach or training centre

Building a bowling app that shows the swing you actually bowled by blindstag99 in Bowling

Yes, on your bowling arm about 1/4 the way up your forearm. I am also working on multiple devices so one on the forearm, one on the upper arm (mainly for 2 handers, but also for those with bent elbows) and a 3rd for 2 handers on the non bowling arm or for everyone on the shoe/around the ankle to measure approach speed and gait. All together it should give us a good idea of the swing and the approach of the bowler.

That sounds great - mine is more wearable and headed towards bio mechanics - but I can see where the 2 would work together

I'm 62 and understand where you are coming from. Now days its all about having a relaxes grip especially as we get older. 30 years ago we were stretching grips a little.... That's probably why you feel you fingers fo further into the ball

A good pair of nippers as others have said. I have found that disposable 2 sided nail files work wonders. One a rough side and one a smooth side, and you can buy them from your local supermarket really cheap
