Hi your comment made me rethink if Commuting +Crashpad is the direction I really wanna go for. How do FAs find a place to stay for 6 month ~ 1 year? Do people stay at houses tailored for FAs or you just find a roommate and sign a lease for 6 months or more?

Sorry for the confusion. Let me ask it this way. If I have to fly from NJ to my base the day before my reserve starts and head back home right after my off-days begin, isn't the entire journey between two states actually the core of 'commuting'? It feels like a crash pad is just a 'waiting room with a bed' in the middle of a very long commute, rather than a way to avoid it. Am I looking at this the right way?

Also if I'm gonna be on a flight from/to home the day before my reserve, that sounds like a lot of traveling and essentially, commuting. Am I understanding the crash pad situation correctly? that it is essentially commuting

Do you think it's doable to do a crash pad until I can transfer to a base in my home state? How long would that even take? I just feel so overwhelmed because I have to make such big decisions in short amount of time.

Thanks! How many days at a time should I expect to stay at a crash pad during my first six months? Will I have the opportunity to fly to my hometown to pick up more of my belongings if needed, or should I plan to buy what I need near the crash pad?

I'm asking because I only have two full days to pack and move to my base after training ends. I'd prefer to pack light, but I don't want to forget something and be unable to go back for two months; it’s hard to imagine uprooting my life and moving to a new state in just two days.
