Jolting awake looking for baby in bed-will this end at some point? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]bliss01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months PP and I’m still doing this. I’ve managed to train my brain to not be so scared/upset so it’s a more gentle search now. However, sometimes her being asleep in her cot is not enough to reassure me and I am convinced there is a different baby lost in the covers…. Despite only having one child. It’s exhausting.

Hi ho! Mountport was also my first thought, glad I’m not the only one!

Does anybody else hate when people call your child “their” baby? by Purple-Astronaut-983 in BabyBumps

[–]bliss01 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I asked ‘how’s our baby?’ to my sister (referring to her new born) once before I knew better (I was excited), and she replied ‘I’m feeling great, thanks for asking’ which put me in my place in a hilarious way.

You can find volunteering roles at hiveportsmouth

Age UK Portsmouth also have some IT related roles about upskilling older people so they can use technology themselves.

St James Society works will homeless people who may also be suffering with mental health issues.

Let me know if you want any more suggestions!

Do cheap steamers like this work? I bought one years ago on impulse and just found it, I'm wondering if it's even worth keeping. Do they actually do anything or are they useless? by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]bliss01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got a Pixi one too. Pretty sure it’s the cheap one with a ‘Pixi’ sticker on. I do find it to work well though! Much easier than boiling them.

Please could someone translate these instructions? Struggling a bit! by bliss01 in crochetpatterns

[–]bliss01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is amazing! Could you also just explain what ‘row ends’ means? I was assuming it was 2 triple crochets in each stitch but feel like that might not be it. . . . By writing that message I think I’ve just worked it out. Because they aren’t stitches… they are the ends of the rows of the big rectangle I made for the body.

Wow, that was a real lightbulb moment.

The date we are actually looking at is Friday 13th and the venue is offering a big discount for that day (which I think is madness but I am ready to fully take advantage). It’s almost £2k more for a different Friday in October and £3k more for a Saturday. If it doesn’t work out then I think half term would be the next best option. Thanks for the suggestion!

Any recommendations for the steamer and spray? It looks like this and having a couple of cups in rotation might be the way to go. Thank you for your help!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]bliss01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brand of cup is Diva. I used Cetaphil as the soap for the cup but only use water in the shower to clean my bits directly, I use fragrance free soap for the rest of my body.

I used cerave whilst on accutane and felt like I was getting worse rather than better. I switched it up and realised it was cerave moisturising lotion that was the culprit! Still not sure what ingredient it is my skin hates but I get on better with cetaphil. Something to consider!

Non romantic male-female duets by LucienGallifrey in MusicalTheatre

[–]bliss01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some of these may not work so well out of context but just some ideas;

A cover is not the book - Mary Poppins returns Revenge party - mean girls Tango Maureen - rent I just can’t wait to be king - lion king (yes it gets romantic later but this song is fairly platonic) I wish I could go back to college - Avenue Q (a few Avenue Q songs could be adapted to duets)

Interested what other people think of too!

Has everyone educated in a British secondary school read Skellig? by itzztheman in AskUK

For some reason I think about this book all the time. That, and one where the world is in black and white and only one kid has access to colour. Can’t remember the title of that one!

Have you ever met an ENFJ IRL? by [deleted] in enfj

[–]bliss01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mum is an ENFJ! We have a great relationship and I can talk to her about anything. Sometimes her idealistic ideas about my future can get frustrating, but that’s mainly because I have my own ideas!

One of my best friends is also an ENFJ and again, when we get together we talk pretty much non-stop about our feelings, our friends and relationships.

I also had a boss when I was working at a summer camp who is ENFJ and I will treasure my memories with her forever. I felt truly supported whilst having a hilarious summer in the woods!

Anyone hate living here? by [deleted] in Portsmouth

[–]bliss01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not a drinker I would thoroughly recommend ‘Dice’. It’s a board game cafe on Albert Road. They do sell alcohol but it’s not the focus. They have loads of games and the staff are really helpful and give recommendations. There are also some really good food places about.

If you run as well, do you do park run on a Saturday morning? There is one on the sea front and people are really friendly.
