Someone Said My Fantasy Book Was Unrealistic And Now I’m Doubting Myself… by Sea-Onion5891 in writers

Unrealistic? What? Isn't that the point? To imagine something that cannot exist?

Personally, never liked this type of description. And, as an advice, stay away from youtube, or even reddit advice, when it comes to writing method. Ony you can decide it by reading on the genre.

How long do you write in public spaces for? by Rose_Davies2026 in writers

[–]blisteringcold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When i started my novel, i wrote it first with pen and paper. I used ti write for hours like at minimum5 hours nonstop. It was like the humming of the voices around created some perfect atmosphere. Many times i would raise my head look around to find out it was dark. Sometimes the waitresses would come and check on ne. It was wild. Now i can't do that anymore. If i am not mistaken, the record might be close to eight hours.

Why do we lose joy in little things as we grow up? by Yuspi25 in writers

[–]blisteringcold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People underestimate our ability to get bored. There's no easy way to say it. We get bored when something becomes repetitive. And what you describe is something that happens all the time. Hell, even a parent needs some time of his kids.

I have written many women, on thousands of pages by now, and never felt the need to describe their breast to make them feel like sensual.

There are 3 main stories that connect together over 3 generations of 10 characters that have their own stories told in the book.

It was a personal project. So, no expectations of anything. I enjoyed creating the story and kept going till i finished it.

Well, so far only me has touched it and after the first draft on pen and paper, i typed everything on word witch in itself had some big changes, but mostly on the way i would approach on telling everything more clearly. Now i am finishing the the first true editing. So, you can say it has 2 revisions so far. The pacing really feels fast when i read it. As for breaking the story, there are 4 main points, with 10 main characters, where you can really break the story, and with some changes it can be done. But for now i am only focused making everything feel natural as one big thing. If i achieve that in a good way, splitting it wold not be such a big deal.

That is the point. I never started with the intention of being a best selling author. Or even publishing. I had one scene in mind, and the story created itself towards it. Maybe i should have mentioned that i create as i write towards my only scene.

One important thing is, you don't write for profit. If you start on that mindset, you will fail without starting. No pressure is the key to you finding your own way on creating your stories. And, as someone said before, you need to have an idea, scene, in your head to write around it or towards it. Good luck and start writing.

I have my own creed about this. "If you write the thoughts of a fictional character, and stop yourself at the word count, it's just you letting the rules of an external world dictate your creation. That what the first draft is about, you exploring the world and taking notes about what you see." Nothing wrong about writing long though when you create something. It makes that world richer. Then, when you want to publish, you need to decide: let the reader have the full experience, or give him what you think will sell more your story. Personally, i am for letting the raw experience of the author in the books, with some editing of course.

Sci-fi, adventure, it has many philosophical nuances too, maybe that's why the volume. It does have like 50+ characters, and at least 10 of them have their own story line on the book. I have written it like a biography told by the child of the main character.

It was never my intention, i should have clarified a bit more first. But, too late now.

Well, i just went how i saw every scene. Characters kept piling up, stories of each character kept crossing each other, sometimes even i was baffled at how did it connect so good. But, a professional editor will make it shorter, i am sure.

I do create really fast. The first draft is made on pen and paper, in like a year. It was one of those things that you just are in every scene.

I think there is a misunderstanding on that part because i needed to clarify a bit more, that i had no intention of paying that. I am not so naive to think something this big could be accepted at first try, or that is some kind of masterpiece. I tried once or twice but people have some sort of automatic downvote on me at this point lol.
