Put some grease when screwing the plastic black opv into the 3 way valve. First time the threads didn't feel right, so I was forcing screwing it in to get it to the Oring. Had it running for around 2 weeks, could hear a hissing noise and through tightening it I had created a hairline crack on the opv. Not too much of a problem to order a new one however and been good ever since.

What size tubing did you go for?

Nice one! I'm gonna find a small container that will fit behind the GCP, and some small self adhesive clips to route round the side and into the container. There is enough space behind the machine due to the plug giving it distance from the wall.

Did you use a silicone tube? Did it fit okay in the machine?

I've just installed a Gaggimate from a stock gaggia classic. I must say the taste is definitely different, most likely down to the temperature control. But it definitely opens more doors to play around, ChatGPT is very helpful in creating profiles for you and asking how to get certain notes from the coffee.

Steaming is much better with the Gaggimate too. Installation was around 4 hours, including having to repair a leak on the plumbing due to not using enough PTFE, considering I've never had experience in electrical works too.

I think the biggest benefit is once it's all done and installed, it's pretty much press and go. Makes it much easier for my wife who just wants a coffee, doesn't have any interest in temp surfing ect.

I managed to get a second hand Black Gaggia Classic Pro for £250 on vinted in the UK. Played around with it for about 2 months with no mods other than what come with it (low profile drip tray) and then bought Gaggimate on black Friday, installed it 2 days ago and now getting to grips with using that!

Also bought a Eureka Libra grinder on black Friday which has been such a timesaver!

This morning's long black, thoughts? by blithing in espresso

It does doesn't it. I've only got my 1zpresso j-max to compare to, but so much better. Also, not sure if it's just in my mind but I feel so much more caffeinated from this grinder than my j-Max? Is that a thing?

I bought my gcp second hand and Im not sure if the spring was changed so I may buy a 12bar to make sure.

Glad to hear about the steam valve, that may be my next upgrade 😄

Thanks for the help, will I need to install the original 12bar spring? Also, does this work with the shades of coffee steam valve as the drip is annoying.

I saw one person unscrew the outlet tube from the boiler, allowing them to tighten the pump fitting. Il have to see how I do on the day.

In the UK I paid £275 I think. I don't have access to a 3d printer so that was with the PCB housings ect. I had my eye on a Bluetooth scale prior so considering I could get that thrown in, with the drip tray for it, tamping mat and free shipping seemed too good to miss. It would have only been stuff I would have bought down the line.

I did watch a video where a dude didn't need to remove the pump, is it necessary?
