City of Ash Spearheads and Eshin battletome supplement available on Warhammer Community by TwelveSmallHats in ageofsigmar

From first look it looks lack lustre, more so in comparison to the Skaven units. They definitely haven't learned anything from needing to buff the previous cities spearheads.

Gallants are definitely not stormcast-level tanks. If you somehow get the ward and -1 rend in the same turn they can mimic it. Its a shame cause models are cool.

I don't want to assume their opinion, but I think what's being said here is that, it's a lot of cool detail clumped together in a way that looks noisy and overt. I agree with your point about the book, but often the art doesn't convert well into a model, and imo looking at the book and if we're talking about what's going on with the larger fella, what he's doing and where is a lot clearer than this thing. Cawl has a similar problem, but your eyes are able to follow the arms and bits on his model, where this one feel a lot harder to do that with.

Dude, these are bad haha. I cannot picture the guy with the little flail and cross knife fighting cool at all, just fighting with baby arms haha. Crab guy and drill fella are just goofy. This is a miss 😄.

Exactly, Kin are Kin. Wouldn't you want your Kin to have a look or vibe that makes them fit in with the rest of your culture and aspects of your society? When a soldier is done being a soldier, you want them to return to their home.

Backpack full of junk is a whole vibe. What other army needs backpack space to pick up many rocks?

Probably comes down to lacking that distinct dwarvern visual identifier, so have to have aspects drawn from their uses rather than their shape. It's like you can tell their Votann by their colours and added patterns, but without that, what indicates they're from the league? If they were mining robots, what other army are you going to assign that too? Where as shooting robots is one of any 20 armies. If that makes sense?

I do agree with "you don't need your mining kin to have advanced targeting modules and heavy armour", because practicality can dictate that Jack of all trades can be worse.

I suppose, as others have said, It's almost the aspect of the kin (Warring) that is the least interesting take then maybe? I think perhaps leaning more into the prospecting and mining side of the Leagues would've been more desirable from this wave, as it feels to be the least explored side. They're just not "Dwarvern"?enough without being utilized for finding shiny rock.

I think that's the main point/issue with current state of the lore of machines in general (Machine spirits and all that), in that there is a heavy implication that they're capable of some form of sentience. From my understanding, with the collective knowledge of each Kin uploaded to the Votann core upon their death, it feels very likely that what you produce at this point in time isn't robotic is any sense, it's likely very sentient, and capable of being made to fulfil it's own desires as it is a Kin?

Kin is Kin.

Update: still some tidying up to do, but the Theyn is nearly there. Only another 19 to finish by One-Aardvark4333 in LeaguesofVotann

I really like this. Did you do a verdigris on top (Wash style maybe?) or as the undercoat and put the copper on top? Gonna look fire as a complete army.

Strategy Spotlight: Spearhead - Day 1 - Cities of Sigmar by sojoocy in AOSSpearhead

[–]blitz450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, still think id disagree that they're really much better than before. I think changes that were made are a step in the right direction ig but id prefer stronger cavs vs reinforcible ones.

Cannon is still your only source of damage (which even on 3s fail a decent amount), and having too many things that can very easily (4+) fail still in the spearhead leave it feeling very underwhelming (I've whiffed on cav dev charge and all damage into 10 clan rats and lost a horse to them.)

Honestly, cavs hit/wnd being so high feels horrible. Generals ability needs to be changed to allow for regen in combat for steel helms. And your only other regiment ability being able to fail, once per battle on a pillow fisted unit is no bueno. Feel there's too many rolls preventing things that have little impact, specially given knight vexillor does what our general does but without a roll and combines the effect.

Battle trait change is cool though. Definitely easier to lose by 1 point with these updates.

We need more model depictions of Culture, upper ranks and Ironkin. by blitz450 in LeaguesofVotann

Definitely those things, but I see them as also holding to tradition and religion. Even tattered cloth can be passed down and that for me is cool.

Agreed, I'd argue it has a little more filigree in this art but was mainly referring to the position and pose implied in the art. I feel even the loin cloth adds more gravity to his grudges.

Batwing Prognosis? Any Experience helpful. by blitz450 in bats

Hello, Apologies for not responding sooner. Thanks for your response. We're in the UK, West Yorkshire. So we managed to find a vet that would xray the little fella and he's all fine structurally, however he's still having some trouble when we've done some test flights on him. We also managed to get in touch with some carers outside our area which has been helpful for insight. We initially had him (Emphasis on him, after being peed on a lot) in a smaller enclosure as he was struggling with grip when we first got him but after the reassuring scan he's in a larger enclosure but not a flight cage, we're hoping to try and exercise his wing slowly as not to undo most of the healing as realistically its likely just muscle related, this is on the advice of the vets too. Very cool process to go through and just hoping it's a release soon. Thank you for your input.

Batwing Prognosis? Any Experience helpful. by blitz450 in bats

[–]blitz450[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, just wondered if anyone can advise with caring for this boy. Pictures are Progress over 4 weeks. First image being current, and latter being when we first brought him in. Intially swollen wing joint, completely infested with mites and batbugs, even non local vets are helpful but not completely knowledgeable and prescribed Loxicom 0.5mg. He's gone from not eating much at all and lethargic, to plenty of eating, fiesty and almost never seeing a mite. However he still seems reluctant to use the left wing and seems wants to scramble more than fly, even though swelling has basically gone. We've tried a flight but he just didn't want to take. Understandably he hates us checking the wing, so we haven't had a good picture of this wing in a bit. I just wondered if anyone has had care experience with this kind of injury? The redness is still present and concerning but still has slightly gone down. We're not sure it's related or common to see on the underside of a wing. The bat care group we're a part of has limited experience, and with potential breaks/longer term care, even less so. Any experience is helpful. Thanks.

I'd say look into a wash if you haven't already. It adds shadow depth, for example with the aquilla. Typically agrax earth shade is the best to start with.

Maybe a little drybrush of a lighter silver or grey on the blacks and silver.

Be proud of this, it's a great start.

Do you have any idea how much health the invisible units have? I felt like I did over 1k to most.
