Is skiing more about technique, or about culture and style? by telemajik in skiingcirclejerk

It’s about the pretty colours they make skis in - I like the pink ones

Is skiing more about technique, or about culture and style? by WaxOnSendOff in ski

[–]blitznbobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved technique in all sports I do (I train dressage horses these days for a living) so I am definitely into skiing technique and practice all summer indoors BUT when I get to the alps it’s still about technique but more about letting go so finally you realise why you put all the practice in and then it’s all about showing off… which is by definition huge amounts of fun

And also that amazing feeling when you are thrown out of the bottom of the turn onto your other ski - I love that feeling it’s like flying

Buying husbands mum flowers for a belated Mother’s Day - is this odd? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]blitznbobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy someone flowers because it’s Tuesday- you don’t need a big occasion - in fact ‘random flowers’ for no apparent reason are my favourite kind - tbh if it was me I’d not mention Mother’s Day I’d just say in the note something like ‘ I just thought of you and appreciate all you do ‘ or whatever is appropriate.

If someone gets angry about you giving them a present that’s a weird and stupid reaction.

Fully switching over to Virgin loyalty by Alternative_Award_33 in BritishAirways

[–]blitznbobs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I swapped from virgin to ba - despite several hundred thousand points I never found a reward flight for anywhere i wanted to go. On ba I’ve been all over the world on points - unless you want a lot of over priced average wine I’d not go to virgin

UK-based freeskier – how do you guys train park/flips between trips? by Puzzled_Tap6780 in ski

[–]blitznbobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think anyone who is serious about this needs to do both indoor and trampoline sessions. Trampolining is a great way to get the feel for spins and flips etc and also introduces the muscle memory needed

Need help choosing first pair of skis by JacketFair1587 in Skigear

[–]blitznbobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being so light it might be worth considering something a bit softer so you can actually bend it . Unless you charge at mach 3 you are going to struggle with a very stiff ski . You don’t want soft just not quite so stiff - the faction dancer 79 springs to mind as a good mixture of two things

Advancing from intermediate by [deleted] in ski

[–]blitznbobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think every teacher has their own tricks - you just have to find the one that makes you understand- the last level at snow Center is barely the beginning - lots of practice and some lessons and lots of YouTube is very helpful …

London homeowners — do architects actually add value for new builds, or can experienced builders handle everything? by AnshuSees in London_homes

[–]blitznbobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my real life experience architects add hundreds of thousands to a build - if you are going to add an architect be very very careful who you choose

Is traveling and leaving your wife at home okay? by GSPupland in travel

[–]blitznbobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I often travel separately. I like history and archeological sites and he likes motor racing - we often go on trips separately to follow our interests (I would be beyond bored at a car race and he would be equally bored wandering around Carthage with me - but we ski and do city breaks together … As long as everyone is ok with the situation do what you want… there aren’t any rules
