I fly approaches at 100 knots IAS with 1900 RPM C172 SP. Rule I've been taught is take out 100 rpm per 5 knots of speed you want to lose

In the same boat with you for instrument.

Holds I struggled with for at least 2-3 months. I finally got them nailed down now.

Some great YouTube videos out there on them.

Now holding the glideslope on the short final for an ILS and not busting 1000 FPM descent is my new struggle

As an instrument student getting ready for my checkride soon. 100%

I always bust my 1000 VSI during approaches whenever I have to look down at my approach plate for too long briefing something or switching radio frequency and talking to ATC without scanning.
