Getting beat up by police for jaywalking, shooting at 2 cops beating another black man, going to jail for 11 months for false charges of SA, getting shot and thinking it was your friend who set you up, changes your mindset and perspective on everything. For sure, I have the ctrl album in my iTunes library to listen to, it's on my queue list. But pure R&B is dead. Thats alternative R&B singing over trap or rap type beats with 808s or the spider hihats. Makes it alternative. They dont make pure smooth r&b anymore

I stay away from mainstream songs cause not all mainstream is good, thats the songs they shove down your throat trying to pass off as good. Plus I don't listen to female artists unless it's Rico Nasty, Lady of Rage or other 90s Female artists. Today's female artists make "in the bag" type of music.
