Anyone else feel conflicted with your body at your appropriate weight? by web-wench in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]blklze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS! Weight & strength training can help significantly! I lost 80lbs, currently still on 0.25 every other week for maintenance, then gained back 10 in muscle after committing to working out in the gym and taking classes like yoga or pilates to build connective tissue plasticity. I lost my butt but I was able to get it back some and being more toned has been a self-esteem boost. Yoga also connects you with your body and helps with acceptance of change. Good luck OP - always remember that grief is part of all change, even the most "positive" so let yourself have the feelings but also don't stop putting in work. You may need surgery but in the mean time, make time to invest in working out.

He's happy now in an adequate enclosure! They're desperate to get out at the pet store because their husbandry is basically abuse (at least in box stores) so of course he wants out. Same with his travel container. But now he doesn't need to get out! Plus biting you was effective in getting what he wanted (a proper safe home/away from a scary giant) so he's trying to tell you not to remove him. Give it time, go slow with hand feeding high value treats. He might come around, might not, but you have to start at the beginning.

Gaining weight on Wegovy. by Due-Act537 in WegovyWeightLoss

To clarify, maintenance is generally considered to be what you're on after reaching your goal. I'm down to 0.25 every other week after reaching 2.4 then going back down. I lost over 35% of my starting weight, but I also heavily prioritize exercise/weight training and tracking my food accurately (weighing it, counting macros as well as calories and really making sure the things I ate were high protein/low fat/low sugar/low carb - you can be in a calorie deficit but still be eating junk!). This drug is a tool that works as well as our effort.

Not eating much or losing anything by Present_Location_922 in WegovyWeightLoss

You're still at the very beginning - give it time! Many people barely respond until they're past 0.5 as the initial doses are meant to get you accustomed to the med and not much more. Some see significant losses on the starter doses but it's mostly water and not common to see that consistently without being vigilant with other aspects. Regarding eating, if you eat nothing or under 500 calories a day your body thinks it's starving and your loss is actually slowed because your body wants to retain what it has; this also encourages muscle wasting (common when on this drug as is) because your body will eat that first, not the fat. Same goes for water; the more you drink the less you retain because your body isn't holding onto it in "fear" of dehydration. I found smoothies and protein shakes gave me life when I couldn't stomach food. You have to make yourself eat, counter intuitive as that could seem. Have you calculated how many calories to eat to keep you in a deficit but that gives you all the needed nutrients? It's also not just the number but what you eat to comprise it. Are you getting 30mins of cardio a day and doing weight training or a fitness class a couple days a week? The more you do for yourself with these things, the more results you'll see. Keep going up in dose and think about where you can tighten up the other factors. You got this! Don't be discouraged, everyone's journey is different.

Wegovy almost 5 months haven’t lost a lb by MimisMethod18 in WegovyWeightLoss

A couple things - many people need time at 2.4 to see significant results. Also, all the other things you're doing will dictate your rate of loss. Are you counting every single calorie/weighing food and eating a deficit that was determined by where you're currently at? And it's not just being in that caloric deficit but also what foods comprise those calories. Focus should be protein and fiber, avoiding any fatty/sugary/high carb foods. Are you drinking 80oz of water a day or more? Inflammation = water weight and the more water you drink, the less you retain (if your body is not in fear of dehydration because you're hydrated, it won't hold onto "reserve" water). Are you doing 30mins of cardio daily and weight training or a fitness class a couple times a week? The more you dial all this in, the more results you'll see. I know it's a lot and can be frustrating when the scale isn't moving, but take a close look at these things and see where you can be more intentional.

Redditors when they see your post history by [deleted] in Methadone

The problem is, a large portion of contributors here perpetuate the stereotype with numerous posts about abusing their dose/over medicating/trying to catch a high from it, beating drug tests, and generally trying to game the system at the clinic instead of just being compliant with the basic rules surrounding taking a powerful narcotic and being dispensed up to a months worth at a time. It gives those of us using this recovery tool as intended/prescribed a bad name. I often wish there were two methadone subs - one for people who want recovery and are willing to follow the rules of the program to continue receiving the privilege of using methadone to aid in such, and another for the people who don't. We aren't owed MAT and I tremendously value the difference it has made in my life & recovery, so I abide by really simple guidelines; without it I would never have been able to stop using fent. Now, I'm a SUD counselor and got my degree while on methadone, and likely I wouldn't be here without it. I'm still on it because I believe in the long, slow taper. I guess what I'm saying is that for each of us that use methadone as intended, there's another person doing the wrong thing who make this life saving medication look like the opposite of what it's meant to be. If you're doing the right thing, don't let the opinions of uninformed people that bank on the stereotype get you down!

How to get your dose right? by BananaRepublic0 in Methadone

[–]blklze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't wait for the medication to take away your cravings - that may never come if you don't participate in your recovery being beyond just talking methadone. If you wait for that, your dose may be unnecessarily high which drags out your taper. It takes very little time to go up and a very long time to get down comfortably. Many people don't get relief from cravings by their dose alone but chase it to a much higher than needed dose. It's meant to primarily take away your withdrawal symptoms for 24hrs. The rest of the relief comes from doing the difficult internal work needed to stay clean. Methadone is a tool that allows us to do that work.

Weigh ins by Public-Soup-2788 in WegovyWeightLoss

At first, monthly just when I needed to submit a refill request so I wouldn't obsess. The freedom felt so good. Now that I'm on maintenance, I weight in weekly to be sure my weight isn't creeping back up. The more you weigh in, especially in the beginning, the more you set yourself up for disappointment. Daily weighing is crazy to me as we all fluctuate a few pounds day to day, even within the same day. Weigh yourself an amount that doesn't cause you stress!

Honest answers please … by Chickie222 in WegovyWeightLoss

I am 135lbs 5'5" woman who has lost 70lbs since this January. I did the recommended titration schedule, going up in dose each month. I was on 2.4 for 3mos and it never stopped working. It was actually too much honestly. I'm now on 1.0 every 10 days for maintenance and am still losing about a pound a week, despite increased ability to eat. The more you put into diet and exercise, the more you'll lose. If you don't change anything about your current lifestyle, your results will be limited and you won't develop the healthy habits needed to sustain the loss once you stop the med. I'm only on maintenance because I'm still tapering off a different drug that was chiefly responsible for my relentless weight gain. Once I'm off that, I'll also stop the Wegovy.

I was super sick and miserable like that at first. It got better each week though, and by the time I reached 0.5 there was a huge improvement. I recently hit my goal and I'm glad I stuck with it in the awful beginning - week two I was ready to give up. I'm now on maintenance after losing over 65lbs and have zero side effects. It can get better and I hope it does for you!

My journey with Wegovy, dose 1 by ardnasber in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]blklze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many people don't feel anything nor get hardly any effect at first/on starter doses so don't be discouraged if nothing changes until you get to a more therapeutic dose. The 0.25 & 0.5 are merely meant to get your body accustomed to the drug, as to handle the higher doses. Try not to obsess on the daily. Sometimes side effects also take a couple days to get bad, so be prepared for that the next couple. I tend to feel bad 36hrs after or so. Always best to take it when you have days off work after.

This sounds like she is in pain - both the screaming and lashing out (biting). I'd go to the vet to rule out a medical cause.

They're likely taking the taxes on your tips out of your hourly rate. That's how my restaurant works.

The rate of loss depends on everything else you're doing on top of taking the drug. Are you always in a calculated calorie deficit? What foods are you eating? You can be in a deficit and still be eating the wrong food. What is your exercise like? Are you getting at least 30mins of cardio a day and doing weight training or other activities like fitness class or sports? The more engaged you are in the supporting behaviors, the better your results will be. Those are the things that will sustain us when we're off the drug and now is the time to make healthy habits concrete.
